APC Legal Adviser Muiz Banire Resigns Over Bribery Allegations

Muiz Banire, the national legal adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stepped down over allegations of bribing a judge with N500,000.

He made his decision known in a letter dated November 8, written to the APC national executive committee through the national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, and copied to President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. According to him, he was stepping down pending the outcome of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation.

Banire said it was in the interest of the image of the party.

The APC national legal adviser is being investigated by the EFCC for allegedly giving N500,000 to Justice Terseer Agbadu-Fishim of the National Industrial Court.
He was quizzed for about seven hours on Thursday, November 3, by the anti-graft agency. Reacting to the allegation, Banire claimed the money was a gift to the judge who he referred to as an old friend.

Why will you be saving a party's name when your own name is being draged through the mud?

I really dont understand how this works but how can one tell the difference between a gift and a bribe? If he says it is a gift, how can they prove that it is a bribe?

  8. In saner climes where the system works, this is the honorable thing to do when an investigation is ongoing. You step down until all coast is clear.

Stella, The circumstances in which the money was offered and/or accepted would determine whether it was bribery/corruption or a gift o. Eheh
