Labour Room Drama 112.

Are you kidding me poster?..Are you serious?

I have three kids. I was sick throughout their pregnancies. I mean from day 1 until I put to bed. I won't be able to sleep or eat. I vomit every morning and I will vomit blood as well since their was nothing in the stomach. 

Back to the labour room drama, it was only my last baby's birth that was uneventful. My first baby, I wasn't having contractions or anything, I just saw the show and since it was the first time and given how difficult the pregnancy was, we decided to go to the hospital this was around 10. 30 pm.

 We got to the hospital around 11 pm. The nurse on duty was no where in sight, this is an air force hospital. My husband was fuming, he was very angry. The nurse was finally located and she came strolling in and murmuring on how they were disturbing her that someone wanted to give birth that she (i.e. I) should give birth now. 

My angry husband exchanged angry words with her, she brought the anger to the labour room and I was just standing calmly no pain or anything. The nurse was like first time birth that would take time and they are disturbing her the woman is not even in labour. I proceeded to remove my pant as she wanted to check, she was wearing her gloves, I was still standing when I just heard "boom", the cleaner in the ward just rushed to me, removed her wrapper and blocked something I was wondering what was happening, the cleaner just shouted at the nurse that the baby is out. 

The nurse turned back shocked and started apologizing. Gently eased me onto the bed and cut the cord. The nurse was apologizing that she's sure I started labour since but refused to come to the hospital. The only painful part was when my vagina was sewn up. I cried and because the baby forced itself out, it gave me irregular tears. All these was under fifteen minutes.

 My second baby's was similar, no labour went to the hospital after show but from the car I felt the baby trying to push out, we got to the hospital they took me to labour, I was telling them take me to the delivery room they refused that they had to check I was on the bed waiting to be checked and the baby just popped out the nurse screamed. 

The painful part as usual was the sewing part has I had tears again. I was cleaned up, the baby was cleaned up and we were taken to recovery. About one hour later a curfew was enforced in Jos and all patients had to be discharged. 

There was road blockage and no movement. Hmmm. My husband went home to bring food, he couldn't get back to me. Stella, no car, no transportation nothing. Had to strap my 1 hour old baby to my back even as I couldn't stand properly talk more of walking, I don't know where the strength came from. I walked for 1 hour 45 minutes to get home. Thinking back at that time, I give all glory to God. The first girl is 10 now and the boy is 7.
