The technical committee of the wife of Nigeria's President Aisha Muhammadu Buhari led by the first lady of Kebbi state Dr Zainab Bagudu met with their counterparts in Niamey ,Niger Republic to expound on the concept with a view to putting up a concrete plan of action billed to be discussed during the upcoming official meeting of the first ladies slated for the fifth to the seventh of December .

Members of the technical committee had on arrival briefed the Niger President Mahamadou yousufu where he pledged his support to the initiative of the two first ladies in bringing succor to the refugees in the lake chad basin countries .

They also paid a courtesy visit on the first lady of Niger republic Dr malika yousufu before deliberations on the planned meeting in December .

The technical committees of the two countries agreed to widen the scope of their intervention to include Mali,Benin republic and Burkina faso to address the humanitarian challenge in parts of those countries who also share borders with the lake chad basin .

Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari has been in the forefront of Advocacy on Special Attention to the plight of the Internally Displaced Persons and victims of insurgency through her Program "FUTURE ASSURED " through which millions of Nigerians have benefited in areas of relief materials distribution, medical outreach and the "GET INVOLVED " initiative .

The first Lady of Niger Dr Malika Yousufu also has an ongoing initiative targetted at empowerment of women and children in Niger Republic .

Figures of Refugees /displaced persons in the lake chad basin areas :
Total 2,612,000 with cameroon having 262,000 ,chad 119,000 ,Niger 281,000 and nigeria with highest figure of 1,950,000

Estimates in July indicates that 3.8 million people are facing severe food insecurity and growing hunger in which 80% of refugees overstretch the meager resources of host communities resulting in inadequate healthcare ,malnutrition and zero level education for the victims.
