Patience Jonathan Attempts To Withdraw $5m From Frozen Account

Sources within the EFCC squealed to Sunday Punch that it foiled a fresh attempt by Patience Jonathan to withdraw $5m from her frozen account during the week.

The source said the commission was informed by Skye Bank that Patience had placed a standing order for $5m to be withdrawn from the account but it was stopped.

The detective added, “We received an alert from Skye Bank during the week that Patience attempted to withdraw $5m from her personal account titled Patience Ibifaka Jonathan which is domiciled at the bank.

“We immediately told the bank not to allow any withdrawal because a ‘No Debit Order’ had been placed on the account.”

It will be recalled that the EFCC had frozen four other company accounts with a balance of $15m. The accounts were linked to a former Special Adviser to Jonathan on Domestic Affairs, Waripamowei Dudafa.

However, during the arraignment of Dudafa and the directors of the companies, Patience filed an application claiming ownership of the money.

She subsequently asked the court to lift the restriction on the accounts.

On Wednesday the directors of the companies pleaded guilty to money laundering. The EFCC applied for the money to be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government, a request which has been deferred by the Federal High Court.

    2. Monies in "Frozen" accounts cannot be used for anything by the Govt until the case is completed. Until judgement is passed, it just sits in the account.

Money recovered by EFCC or paid to EFCC in cash cannot be used until judgement is passed as they are termed exhibits. If used, they are actually part of borrowed funds.

These monies can help a MDG but can't alleviate the recession.

  10. This super clueless and incompetent administration can do or say anything to decieve their hunger ravaged, deplorable and irredeemable zombie followers and touts. That's how they told us they have recovered billions of dollars from GEJ's men, yet they are still looking for where to borrow money to fund budget. Seems somebody is running a hate campaign against Dame Patience Jonathan here.

  15. First of all, thanks anon 11:44 for guiding the misguided.

On the matter in question, once a criminal, always a criminal. The account is frozen by a court and as long as the court has not refrozen it, it doesn't belong to her. So trying to withdraw from it is attempted stealing which law doesn't care if or not she is an illiterate. Her greed would land her to her Golgotha.

  16. Don't forget that years ago she was apprehended with so much dollars she wanted to launder at the mmia when obj was president. Her then case was to be charged to court when obj stopped it because he obj wanted to use her husband Jonathan for a purpose
