The 34-year-old royal has allegedly met his sibling's American flame, but he's said to be dismayed by his decision to confirm their relationship in the strong-worded public message and hit out at the "sexism and racism" the Suits actress had faced.
A source told the Daily Mail newspaper: "He thinks Harry made a mistake in confirming the relationship and releasing such an emotional statement so soon.
"William knows that his brother can be hot-headed and understands that it is something he felt very strongly about.
"Privately, he shares a lot of the sentiments he and Meghan expressed as, make no mistake, she was very involved in the statement too."
However, a spokesman for The Palace told Mirror Celeb: "The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him."
Harry was introduced to divorcee Meghan, 35, by mutual friend Markus Anderson at London's Soho House in June and things are already pretty serious between them.
In an extraordinary statement issued by Kensington Palace, which was posted on the official Twitter account, the 32-year-old hunk expressed his concerns over his girlfriend's safety.
The statement, which Prince Harry asked to be issued, said that the past week "has seen a line crossed".
The statement read: "His girlfriend, Meghan Markle , has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public, the smear on the front page of a national news, paper, the racial undertones of comment pieces, and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.
"Prince Harry is worried about Ms Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her.
"He knows commentators will say this is 'the price she has to pay' and that ‘this is all part of the game'. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game… it is her life and his."

ReplyDeleteTheir problem
ReplyDeleteHe must not conform to that stiff royal thing going on there.
ReplyDeleteHarry has always been the free one,a little reckless too.
I love the fact that he tried to protect his girlfriend..
If the handbook of the royal family states that you should not defend your girlfriend openly cos you will be confirming things.. Harry is not ready to be careful.
Yes I understand that relationships pack up, and you fear that he's endorsed this. He will always dust himself up and try again. Let him live!
Foundational issues, older divorcee... Just like his father and Camilla Parker Bowles... Na wa!!!
