Stowaway Found Dead In Arik Air Plane In Johannesburg

The lifeless body of a stowaway was on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 found in the main wheel well of one of Arik Air’s A330-200 aircraft at the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg.

The aircraft operated the scheduled Lagos-Johannesburg flight that departed the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at 3:55pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 and arrived Johannesburg shortly before 11pm.

Engineers of South African Airways Technical facility at the Oliver Tambo International Airport where the aircraft was scheduled for a routine maintenance check discovered the body of the stowaway during inspection phase.

Investigations are ongoing to determine how the stowaway found his way into the aircraft’s main wheel well.

    1. Yea,
Sum1 did die. And ironically, the person was running away from this recession oo only to smuggle himself into aircraft wheel compartment.

      RIP running man

  7. How silly can people be, bikonu?! Exposure to the thin air up there for a 45-minute Lagos to Benin flight is enough to snuff life out of someone, let alone 6-hour flight to J'burg. Ngwanu, Oga stowaway, I hope your flight to eternity was worth the ride...

  8. Someone once told me that people pay for stowaway in naija. He said they could pay as high as 500k depending on the destination. They don't just walk up to the aircraft and hide. They are planted there. He said some are successful while some aren't lucky to come out alive. I was pretty shocked at that because I have always wondered how stowaways get past the airport security. I hope the stowaway didn't pay for this. That would mean he actually paid for his death! What a terrible way to die.

    1. Imagine, paying to go and die. It's not rocket science, how can you smuggle yourself behind a running engine for hours at such a high risk mid air and expect to arrive safely? This isn't desperation but gross stupidity. Smh
