  8. If you believed the minister of health then you are on a long time. He is trying to carry out damage control because the custom officers didn't get their script edited before dishing it to the public. Nigeria is a land where the truth is swept under the carpet or adulterated. Its a shame because anything that is to be consumed should first be tested by NAFDAC before it finds its way into the public but on this they failed and instead of admitting they are denying it,hoping they can secretly get ride of the side rice.

Wicked humans who adulterate anything that is to be consumed or used on the skin are worse than the devil.

  14. Exactly last year, Indonesia was hit with the plastic rice saga, after a video surfaced online of people manufacturing plastic rice in China.
After in depth analysis it was found out that if the plastic rice video was true, then manufacturers of plastic rice would be running at a loss, as it was less profitable to manufacture plastic rice to natural rice. Manufacturing in commercial quantity is another kettle of fish.
After analysing the samples, it was found out that all the fuss about plastic rice, was all fuss about a rice that never was.
Polished rice tick, expired rice double tick, rice mixed other products to give the bag weight tick, but a bag filled with plastic rice, I no gree.
    In another news
One year later the same scene plays out in Nigeria. Custom officials were said to have seized 102 bags of plastic rice. How dem carry know say na plastic rice? They boiled it and it was sticky. Yawns.
An official said the unit would handover the plastic rice to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control for proper investigation, after declaring it was plastic rice because according to them it was sticky.
And curiously they did not explore the option of expired rice, as they said there was no manufacturing date on the bag and they were quick to call a sticky rice plastic.
3 days later after thorough analysis the health ministry publishes their preliminary reports which show that the rice intercepted were not plastic after all.
    In another news
    Like Indonesia, like Nigeria.
Bad news sells and travels faster than light.
Argue with your health and Indonesia's health ministries.
    Yawns.

    1. It may not have been profitable last year bc rice sold at a max of 12k a bag. This year, the story is different 28k no be crayfish.
My question however is, what are local farmers doing differently that local rice has increased from 6k a bag to 22k a bag?

    2. You are one very smart person. I called my friend who works in the Nafdac lab. She confirmed the rice was brought for testing and it was not plastic. Expired, maybe. But definitely not plastic.
And please stop blaming the manufacturers only. What about the Nigerian importers and the Nigerian officials that allow them gain entry?

  31. CHINEKE! God pls help ur people.
so i'm sharing these tips with you guys so you do not end up eating ‘plastic rice'.
WARNING! 6 tests to help you spot fake rice:
    1. The mortar and pestle test
When molding a few grains of rice with a mortar and pestle, if the powder gives a quite white colour, you are good to go but it has a yellow discoloration, your rice must be fake.
    2. The fire test
You know what plastic smells like right. So, get a lighter and burn a handful of rice. If it catches fire and smells like burnt plastic, you have fake rice.
    3. The water test.
Get a glass of cold water. Pour a tablespoon of raw rice in the glass and stir. If the rice goes to the bottom, it is all good. If it floats at the top, be careful because it means it contains ‘plastic rice’. Do not eat.
    4. The mold test
Boil the rice. Leave it in a warm place for like 2-3 days. If mold does not appear in a few days, your rice is fake and should not be consumed. It will not get mold because plastic is not affected by the weather or temperature.
    5. The boiling test
Observe the rice while boiling. If it starts forming a thick layer at the top of the pot, it is ‘plastic rice’.
    6. The hot oil test
Just take some of the rice drop into some real hot oil. If it is plastic, it will melt or stick together or stick at the bottom of the pan.
Share these tips with your friends and family so they do not end up eating ‘plastic rice’. These tests are very simple. Do not eat plastic rice, be careful.

  35. The people who imported this rice into Nigeria are wicked and heartless...

You can do this simple test on your rice to ascertain what you eat.

Water test..drop some seeds of ric in the glass of water, if it sinks it's is real but if it floats it I plastic.

Fungus test.. put some boiled rice in a bottle an d leave for 2days, if it does not grow mould then it I plastic.

Hot Oil test.. just like to this video up there, plastic will melt and stick art the bottom of the Frying pan. Pour the rice in a hot oil to test

Fire test.. then we all know how plastic smell on fire, lit matchstick on hand full of rice and perceive the smell.

Boiling test...plastic rice while Boiling should form thick layer on top. Observe your face while boiling.

    Merry Christmas My people..
    Have a joyous celebration..
