Kaduna Lawmaker Allegedly ‘Scams’ One Bank Of N130m To Offset N122m Loan In Another Bank (PHOTOS)

Details have emerged on how the lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal constituency in the National Assembly, Honourable Samalia Suleiman borrowed the sum of N130m from Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) to offset a N122m loan he got from United Bank for Africa (UBA).

In a letter dated May 10, 2016, the lawmaker 35-year-old lawmaker requested a N130m loan facility from GTB to enable him offset the loan from UBA without laying down any collateral, as he merely stated he would repay through his monthly allowances he promised to domicile with GTB.

His loan request was granted by GTB just three days later on May 13, 2016.

However, in a letter dated November 29, 2016 addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, GTB stated that Suleiman had defaulted on the loan re-payment for four months. The bank added that attempts to reach the lawmaker were abortive as he failed to respond to phone calls or give a definite response when he replied text messages.

  4. It is good for GTB. The stupid man should not pay them.

When innocent people wants loan for their business upliftment, they will use heavy hammer to kill a fly on them.

Shame on the lawmaker. These set of lazy people too like enjoyment and less work. They like money too much, too much.

  5. Lol.
Let's call it refinancing_ or robbing Peter to pay Paul, sounds more easy on the ear.
GTB won't give SMEs soft and flexible loans, but they have the one to give politicians?

Judgement day will be tough o.

These politicians would continue to scam them, till they revisit the core duties of a bank.

Imagine 130mil without collateral? Who does that?
If I even lend you 10k, I will collect your ancestors details join.
