Labour Room Drama 127

There is always drama in the Labour room....

Hello Stella, more blessings to you, i love your blog so much, a day doesn't go by without me reading it.

Now to my labour story, i was already 3 months pregnant when i got married as i was already gbenshing hubby, lol, so i settled into married life with belle, it was drama free, vomited only once cos i was craving balis irish cream n ice, drank it n threw up like say no tomorrow, but besides that, i was was glowing and active all thru, na me sef dey reach office before my non pregnant colleagues, my boss was my best friend then.

Fast forward to 9th month, exactly 40th week, i went for scan as baby no do like say he ready come, the scan man took a look at the screen and said 'madam, if i were you, i would have this baby now now' shuo'', i asked him oga why nah?

he said ' your baby is weighing 4kg, he is very big, if you leave him like this he will continue growing o, you better go for induction' omo cum see panicking, i call hubby n told him, he said madam calm down go home, i will join you soon, but for where, i no hear o, na so i go see my dr in the same hospital where i did the scan, i told him what the scan man said, so the dr decided to check me since i was already due but no sign of labour, he put his hand in me n i screamed the whole hospital down, he was laughing and said madam na so you wan dey do?

He told me i was still closed, and that since i was worried, i should come for induction, so i went home. hubby came back from work, n we carried ourselves along with my baby bag to the hospital that night, this was around 11pm friday night.
They admitted me, and and the dr inserted a balloon like stuff into my vagina and taped it with plaster along my thigh, na so i begin walk like duck all thru the hospital, till i slept off, the balloon was supposed to come off in 8hrs but it came out in 12 hrs, during this time omo i hold God tight, my sis gifted me with a supernatural childbirth booklet, it became by best friend, i knew the words by heart.

so when balloon came out, na so dr put one tiny drug into my vajayjay n said madam get ready in 30mins you will feel pains, i asked sir what would the pains be like? he said dnt worry when it comes you will know.

oh when the pain started in 30mins, i started speaking in my father's tongue, language wey i no sabi speak before o, make una see my life...the pain was out of this world, i want to also want to use this opprotunity to say a prayer to all the women working in that hospital, whenever they pass by my room, they say a short prayer with me, whether a dr, or nurse or marton or cleaner, they all held my hand n prayed with me, with a word of advice saying madam pls try not to scream, save your energy etc, apparently they do so when any woman is in labour, God bless them.

That encouragement really went a long way for me. Anyway back to my story.

hubby really tried o am sure his hand would have been numb from rubbing my lower back, cos when the pain comes, it feels like my spine is about to divide... anyway after 6 hrs of labour and plenty of shooking of hands by the nurses, i was finally 10cm, did i forget to mention that i pooed while laboring?, all over the bed, Jesus i was apologising and the nurses were just laughing at me like see dis polite woman o, she still has mouth to say sorry ma, sorry sir.

So i finally went into the labour room, was told to lie flat on my back, raise my legs, bend my knees and hold them with my hands, and push when i feel the urge to, in 15mins and 3 pushes i pushed out my handsome 3.7kg baby boy,(dont mind the foolish scan man, the bonzo was measuring both baby and amoinic fluid) but the dr gave me a tear which i felt, while they were bathing my baby, they were sewing me up, omo i didnt feel anything tho cos i felt a prick of needle but it was so weird, i could not wait for them to finish cos i wanted to hold my boy, i was so happy, i forgot all the pain momentarily.

After 24hrs i was dicharged and sent home, dear folks the healing process for tear in the vagina is story for another day, for good 4 weeks, i would sit on a bowl of hot water mixed with antiseptic and salt, morning and night, my mom in law, God bless her, she pressed the life out of my tummy, the thing flat after 1 week.. but the pain of episiotomy, oh Lord , i swore i wasnt gonna get pregnant again, i didnt heal on time, it was until after 3 months i started getting myself in my bumbum area, wen oga sef dey ask me say babe how far na, i say oga hold yasef first abeg, as i was still stinging in that area anytime i wee, see ehn infact thinking about it now still send shivers down my spine, but anytime i look at my boy, i see that it was all worth it.

Make una no mind my mouth o, my boy is 1 year plus now n i am on my second journey, hopefully i will send another LRD come next year May, God bless you Stella, God bless dear BVs.

N.B please dear expectant mothers , always wait at least 41 weeks before you jump for induction, or have more than one place you go for scan, i just feel that if the scan man hadnt told me that my baby was big, i would have waited another one week n my baby might have come naturally, and just maybe i would have avoided a tear, just saying tho, this time around i plan to wait until labour comes naturally, aint nobody gat time for ballon or tablets inserting tins, lol God help us all sha to put to bed safely, amen.

*But its the same thing nau, your baby came naturally.

I think you made a mistake, the hospital bath your child after delivery?Who does that? They dont bath them, they clean them up and dress them up at once....Oh babies come out smelling great!

    1. Congrats poster. You however sound ignorant. Waiting for your baby to come without induction doesn't mean you won't have tears. Calling the guy that did scan for u is also not nice as he told u what he saw besides it is usually said that scans are not 100% correct. And staying back to wait for the baby to come without induction after maximum 41 weeks is dangerous to the baby as the placenta also has a maximum number of time it is meant to function. I wish u luck on your next delivery.

    2. If you like wait for 42 weeks sef, if you need an episiotomy, you would get one. I told my dr not to cut me, let me tear if e wan tear. It's less painful.
And you are right Stella, babies come out smelling awesome!

    3. The poster is really ignorant. Every scan says ESTIMATED FETAL BIRTH WEIGHT. It's by no means definite. My last scan said 2.7kg and my baby came out 2.5kg. Induction is still natural birth and is not more painful than normal delivery. First time mothers always feel induction is too painful because that is all they do. Induction and episiotomy (tear) share nothing in common.

  4. I don't think the scan man said anything out of place. He was only raising a concern which your doctor would have either said no to if he thought the scan man was wrong.

You get tear mostly during your first time of delivery so I don't think the tear came cos you were induced.

    Nice story.

    1. Potato poteto what's the difference between 3.7kg and 4kg? From 37weeks a baby can be delivered healthy. Why wait for 41weeks?

induction is to bring up Labour and is not d cause of d tear.My birth my first baby 42weeks and 3days and I was still induced,my 2nd 41weeks 4days and I was still induced cuz I had to go to d hospital myself.
Will send my LRD for both soon cuz my eyes see pepper.Their was nothing I didn't do for Labour to start,I 'll trek long distances, take pineapple, climb stairs, dance 30mins every night, sex, exercise.I didn't know my babies r flexing inside womb and saying mummy u r doing ur own lol.
