Man Allegedly Drinks Insecticide As MMM ‘Crashes’ 2 Weeks To Wedding

A man has attempted to commit suicide in Benue State by ingesting insecticide after Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox froze accounts of participants in the Ponzi scheme, two weeks to his wedding.

The development which has led to panic among millions in the country hit the man, identified as Adakole, hard as he had reportedly invested N300,000 meant for his wedding in the scheme.

Realising that not only was his investment and 30 per cent interest unlikely to accrue to him before the wedding, but he risked losing everything, he opted to take his life and consumed insecticide.

Daily Post quoted a friend of the MMM victim as saying he is battling for his life at a clinic in Otukpo where the incident occurred.

The friend, who said Adakole had called him to confirm if it was true that the scheme had “crashed” before attempting to take his life, also told Daily Post that he had contacted the fiancΓ©e who resided in Abuja.

MMM had on Tuesday announced that it was freezing accounts for one month, a move seen by many as indicating that the scheme had crashed as long expected.

Although those behind the scheme stressed in a notice to participants that it had not crashed, many believe it was just masking the fact that it had scammed people as predicted by regulatory authorities.
from punch.

*People should be patient and lets wait and see what happens after the stipulated time instead of causing panic ooooh.
my friend invested 850k of her business money and is in shock right now.

NB: This is not an attack but a need for clarity.

    11. I really don't understand Nigerians, shouldn't you do your research first? Greed is what pushed a lot of ppl to invest.
So imagine that they come back next year, what do you think will happen? Everybody would rush and pack their monies. You think they are stupid?
Go and read how MMM scammed Zimbabweans, South-Africans, and Venezuelans. Exactly what they are currently doing. The thing about MMM is it is packaged brilliantly because they don't handle your money directly. You gain 30% from someone else money and the person gains 30% from another person's money so there is an increasing "virtual " debt. The problem is the debt keeps increasing until they cannot pay everyone in the system. Essentially robing Peter to pay Paul. Most Nigerians know this, yet, to make fast money, they still go ahead.
I know ppl who invested so for their sake, I pray it hasn't crashed but I mean judging from history, that is like praying for a miracle.

    13. @Anon 10:17 the fact that Mavro is still growing for accounts whose money has passed 30 days calls for serious concern. They should have stopped it from growing after 30 days. Cos by January it would have become a whole lot. Who will pay it off? Especially when you consider that the same thing is happening to about a million more accounts.
The admin of mmm screwed up big time, which makes me feel they intentionally want to crash it and shift blames to the government and media.
If they were not hiding something, they would have allowed the ph and gh to go on, but only people who's mavros has reached 30 days can gh.
Then the rush to gh will reduce and people will patiently wait their turn.
By January, virtually everyone in the system will have hit the 30 days mark. So who will pay who when the gh floods in?
I'm inclined to believe those that opine that the admin and others in charge ensured they gh from people who ph large sums in their syndicate accounts just before they freezed it.
If they will really come back in January they will have to do away with or reduce the guiders percentage and reduce referral bonus. This will help control multiple accounts creation for bonuses
they will also need to compel everyone looking to gh to ph at least 10k or 20k to kick start the system again. Just my thought sha.

  11. But that's greed. If you want to so this kind of thing, use spare money. Like 50 - 100k. Then after you must have made your 50 - 100k back, start putting back more profit that comes again. That way when they crash, you don't feel bad as you have made your money back and eating your interest.

All this things have an end. If they don't crash, they will reduce their 30% to 10% soon like they have done in Zimbabwe which is also like crashing.

By the way the reason a lot of people are fretting I guess is the planned on using the money this December period for weddings, the festive period and other things like house rent and so on. Now their hopes have been dashed and asked to wait till January.

I'm glad S pulled out before now else that one would have cried. S I'm talking to you. Yes you πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

I think MMM is just buying time, lying to people they will be back in January. They are not coming back, that sure.
Have you take time to ask, where are the 30% bonus coming from ? Are you guys buying or selling anything ? NO! Then how do you come by such a percentage at a very short period of time ?
Most guys at the top of tge ladder don't have the cash in there again, they were just collecting bonuses from the downline.
Take it or you leave it, MMM not gonna come back again, not in January, not anytime soon.

MMM 30% no investment, just taking from peter to pay paul. I personally don't know anyone that dropped their cash, I refuse to call it investment. But for people who put in their entire cash, I hope it doesn't crash for your sake.

  51. Hi fellow MMM participants:
Let us talk about the role the media, financial institutions, government and non participants are playing during our trying period.

I sincerely believe that we all should be wise, calm and patient. In all honesty, MMM ADMIN was never guilty of any offense, we were clearly warned to participate with spare money, not because of the possibility of a crash but because of peace of mind, in case of situations like this, most of us including myself are very guilty of that.
Nevertheless, we are not in a hopeless situation, what we need to do is to completely avoid the media if you know you are easily affected by that. The media thrive based on reporting bad news and as much as they can, they want to also make a living, so they must make it look worse than it is.
The government has lost the respect of the people, so they will willing to put up with the role of a jester during this period, whereas, they have lost already.
The financial institutions must be very relieved from the crowd in the banks, but the truth is that bankers are the most involved in this.
Those who are playing the pity party and adding fuel to fire are the non-participants who do not have a kobo in the community, they are losers willing to bring you down, don't play their game.

    Long live MMM
