Meeting Point 28

*Goose Bumps*...About to faint!

Dear Stella.

I was at the airport in New York travelling to DC for a 7day conference. I sat down at the boarding gate waiting for my flight to be called. I was working for UNICEF at that time . So I sat down, focused on my laptop because of some deadlines. I looked up suddenly when I saw a very tall, dark, very very handsome , well built African American looking like a denzel Washington junior.

I was attracted to him immediately. I noticed he was trying to get his boarding pass and on the same flight with me. I kind of had a little hope that we might sit together so I was watching out for him.
Few moments later, they started calling our flight and I stood up immediately to try and locate my handsome dude. Unfortunately, he was on the business class so they moved into the plane first. My hope was dashed as I was on the economy class. I moved on and forgot about him.

I landed same at my hotel in Dc and got cut up with work. The next morning, I went to the restaurant for the complimentary breakfast. Was seated on my table eating when I noticed someone trying to talk to me from behind. Lo and behold, Mr handsome denzel from the airport was asking if he could share my table.

 I was pleasantly surprised, regained my safe and gladly accepted. The moment I spoke up he smiled and said " you are Nigerian?" ( thanks to my fake Nigerian American accent), I replied if he had a problem with that. He said no "I'm Babatunde" in the cutest American accent . I was shocked . So my Mr handsome denzel was Nigerian after all.

 We got talking and he told me he's lived in the states all his life only been to Nigerian few times when his grand parents were still alive. We chatted and thereafter departed to our various rooms. Note he didn't tell me what he was doing in DC neither did he tell me what he does.

Fast forward to me getting to the conference venue, was well seated when they started introducing the first speaker for the day. Lo and behold, you can imagine my surprise when Mr handsome denzel happened to be the first speaker. From the profile they read out, he was one of the Vice Presidents of a very top , very popular international Organisation.

I was impressed but lost interest cos I felt someone so young and accomplished would either be in a Relationship or be very difficult to live with. Then I noticed there were lots of media guys around him and I didn't want a life of cameras.

We finished the conference for the day, went back to my room and did some other stuffs.the next morning, I deliberately refused to go for breakfast cos I did not want to come across him. I did that for three days. At the end of day three, I was in my hotel room in the evening when I heard a knock on the door. Went to the door and you can guess who was there. Was surprised. Said he got my room number from the reception bla bla he didn't see me after the first day and wanted to check on me.

 Said he noticed me at the conference on day 1 but was too busy to reach out. We went downstairs to the lobby and got talking. We spoke about our lives bla bla . Told me he wasn't in a relationship . I discovered amidst other things that he is a very good Christian even had a ministry of his own which was one of the things I've always wanted. I was thrilled. He was like a Santa clause gift.

 We saw everyday till the end of the conference. Deep down in my heart, I knew he was God sent and I knew he was the man I was gonna spend the rest of my life with. I just had this inner peace within.

We departed to our various destinations. Fortunately we stay in the same state. We kept talking on phone for a week after which we started having lunch whenever he was around during office hours. He was always very busy with meetings here and there. But We became really close and very good friends . I got to know his parents and siblings even though we weren't dating.

Six months after we met, he came over to my place to pick me. We were to go to his parents place for thanksgiving. Note that I had never been to his house all this while but I had been to his parents house for dinner one time like that and that was how I met them.

 Back to my story. He came over to pick me and that was when I knew he was so much of a big deal. I mean this guy had a bodyguard and also a driver. I mean for you to have all that in America., you must be a big deal. He said he purposely drove all of the times we met cos he didn't want to scare me off because according to him I am a bit conservative. That he was done covering up and I needed to know who I was getting involved with. I replied "but we aren't getting involved" he said" we 'll see about that" I said" what do you mean" he said" can't you see I am crazily in love with you!!! Can't you see I'm head over heels here. Girl! I ain't gonna let ya go". I was quiet till we got to his parents.

At his parent's house after all pleasantary, we were eating when Mr denzel suddenly went on his knees and started ranting. He said and I quote" Ola......... (my name). The first time I saw you, I was at the airport trying to get my boarding pass when I noticed you. I was love struck immediately. I tried speaking to you but couldn't cos shortly after my flight was called. I was surprised when I saw you the next morning eating breakfast at the same hotel I was lodged, then I knew this was God giving me a second chance. Then I said to my self, Lord I'm not missing this no more. Ever since then I couldn't spend another moment without you . I decided to take it slow and not scare you off but I'm done talking it slow. I want you to be my wife, would you do me the honour of spending the rest of your life with me? Would you bear my kids and make me your man forever. Would you let me love and care for you. Would you give your heart to me, I promise to keep it Ola............"

 by the time he finished, I was already in tears and so was his mum ( this is for real, no exaggerations). He ended that night by saying " I've asked God for the permission to do this and he said Son, I've got your back".

 We got married 8months later .

We've been married Ten years with four kids (2 boys and girls). Do I still love him? Absolutely. Does he still love me? Hopelessly in love. He's a good man to me and my parents and our kids. He and my mum are very close. My mum in law too is a blessing from God to me. I love her.

Please we have had our own ups and downs and challenges but God has been our solid rock.
Stella got to know your blog through my younger sister. I love this blog. Thank you for being a channel of blessing here. God bless you.
Sorry for the very long story

  71. Lovely. You attract what you are. Not all these empty vessel women running from pillar to post hunting men and attract empty vessels like themselves and start complaining. A good product does not advertise. It attracts what it deserves. That is why I pity women who say 'I am single and searching'. You will search and find rubbish. Improve yourself, be kind to EVERYBODY, be happy and positive always, don't be 'single' be 'independently owned and managed' then you will attract the best to share your life with. Good luck.

    It is not by asking him questions like;
    What about us?
    Where is this relationship going?
    When will we meet your parents?
    or things like;
    Offering sex and trapping him with pregnancy . ..

    Those do not make him want to marry you.

    It is by patience and humility that a man is attracted!

  88. Stella, you better wake up if not you're on a long thing. How people will just believe this Mills and Boon gist beats me. Let's assume you stayed at the same hotel because he was speaker at the event, you dear poster said that, he knocked on your door cos he got your info from the reception. Is it in this same America I live in or somewhere else? Nobody would give out your room number at any hotel for security reasons, even if he was Obama. Do you know the hotel could get sued if he harmed you in any way? And for both of you to stay at the same hotel, that means it's one of the big hotels in the country. I travel a lot for work, and stay in hotels, so I know. Next, you said he has a bodyguard? Is he Kanye West, Jay Z or who? You also said for the next 3 days, you refused to go have breakfast downstairs, just so you wouldn't see him? This is the "Denzel" you were already dying for abi? Madam, would you not be too excited to go downstairs for breakfast knowing he would be there, if you were telling the truth? I mean you are a good writer in the sense that your story is very interesting, but your "Fabu" is too much abeg, and not everyone is buying this exaggeration of yours. Stella I can't wait to send you my story as well, so everyone can ooh and aah over it, and my story will not be real just like this writer's so you can faint again. And no, I am not a hater, just someone calling out your "bootleg" story.

    2. Mr/Mrs 'i live in America',it's very possible to get access to her room.Assuming he's as prominent as she says he is,he can get whatever information he wants from any of the workers there. Also,a lot of people go with guards in "your" America for security reasons because of status. Don't show your stupidity if you don't know what to say next time.
      also,it's possible she refused to meet him anymore because she was already falling for him but didnt want to go on a fools paradise seeing that they come from different worlds.
