    1. I just google search the cause, and the result I got indicates that soot comes from incomplete combustion of a carbon-based material. Any material that can burn can produce soot, including natural gas, LP, wood, oil, candle wax, gasoline, diesel fuel, tobacco smoke, dust, dirt, cooking oils, and carpet fibers.

So its incomplete combustion from fuel that did not burn from illegal refineries around there could be the cause. I guess its time to stop those illegal refineries. Sorry to families affected by this

  22. Yeah Stella,it's bad. This has been on for weeks now.you wake up in the morning and your car is covered with the black substance. My kids have been down with sore throat, cattarh and cough. You walk around the house you'very mopped and the soles of your feet are black.I hear it's bi-product (kpo-fire) of the illegal factories/abi na bunkering in the creek areas. Some say it's side effects of the blowing of the pipelines but I don't see any they blew up in rivers state sha..I stay in trans Amadi but the residents of eleme and onne have it worse. Gov. Wike do something o! This is what you were elected for; not pursuing phantom enemies. It is well

    1. Lols. Them never see anything. This is as a result of all the local refinery they set up after pursuing oil companies. They call it cooking oil.
This same soot is in warri especially ogunu axis, I will send in pictures. Local/illegal refineries, the soot is even a tip of the iceberg compared to long term consequences. They all should be ready for cancers in a few years.

    2. And you are laughing cos e never reach you? Do you know how it feels seeing your child so sick and in pains and you can't help cos even the drugs you give did nothing? Seeing the child's eyes red and tears coming out and you can't help? Carrying your child in your arms with the child's body is so hot? Having to fan that child cos no light and you ran out of fuel cos the fever is so high and u having sore painful throat, stomach pain and body pain, but have to care for your lil one first? Sleeing in your car the next day while driving cos you didn't sleep caring for your child? Seeing your once healthy child looking like he or she could die? So harmless children should die cos of the sins of some greedy ones? You are wicked!!!!

    3. @ Anon 09:02, I'm so sorry you are experiencing all these. You brought me tears. Is there no place you could go spend sometime at rather than inhale the toxins especially cos' of the child pls. Do accept my sympathy please. It is well with Rivers State

  34. This must be as a result of the 'kpo-fire' activities in the state. Bayelsa could be next. They'd better take immediate and effective measures to stop putting the lives of their citizens in danger.

  35. Oh God! Are u sure rapture haven't taken place already. God pls save us from air pollution!

  36. Pls bvs and families in port Harcourt should start wearing nose mask while to avoid direct exposure with the contaminants. This is what most pple in China and India do because their air is badly polluted... This is a palliative treatment while we pray that the govt act fast...

U be our learder.this one dey enter both poor and rich house cos na same air everywhere so I know u learders will act fast no more "we are ontop of the situation this one na in the situation o!

    2. @ wild rose,

Wearing of a nose mask, does not prevent it 100%, as there is no actual analysis on what is actually happening in PH.

Also, it seems to be a highly toxic chemical or excessive combustion of carbon emissions combined with some other chemicals causing it. It could be acute, or bio accumulative, and more. Reading some of these messages reminds me of ADME on toxicant that needs to be evaluated asap given some of the exposures before it goes into severe latent stage.

With all these effects people are experiencing, there should be an environmental toxicologist emergent response to test / collect samples from the various sites and produce a good diagnosis on the toxicosis in the given areas over there.
      A - Absorption
      D- Distribution
      M- Metabolism
      E- Excretion

These are all the basis on toxicology. These symptoms people are stating, are not good and the Nigerian government especially PH needs to act fast!

Parents shouldn't be giving their children basic drugs without knowing the actual effects of this hazard or if the drugs will cause a severe reaction due to exposures..

We definitely need a strong stance on environmental pollution, protection and control. My heart goes out to those suffering the adverse effects of something mixed with carbon dioxide emissions gradually increasing at a high level.

      Worsening smog (Ground-level ozone pollution).
We need a working system like US EPA.
Vulnerable population at risk are children, older people, pregnant women, and those with comprised immune system or heart and lung disease.
      Hope this was benfecial.
      PS:
Some of you are experiencing the absorption phase.
Mode of entry: the skin, the respiratory and gastrointestinal tract, and the mucous membranes.
