The Meeting Point 46

You will not believe what you are about to read!

Stella dear, please DO NOT post my email nor my blog ID. Pleaseeee.

Sometime in 2007, I met a guy on a bus on transit to Enugu (from the East, I was traveling to Lagos). He spoke my dialect with a lady in the bus and so I got interested.

Found out he's from my place and a very close family friend. We got talking and I remember saying "...I am yet to see the man from my place that deserves me...I want to be exported".

In December 2007, I received a phone call from that same guy I met. We got gisting as acquaintances and the next thing he said: " Hold on for my brother". And so I got talking to his brother. His distant relative of course. We realised we bear the same surname. We talked talked talked....the gist flowed. I didn't even ask how they got my contact. The airtime finished. He then called me with his own line. He loaded again. It got exhausted. He loaded another and I just had to yell him to call me Mtn midnight call that I will wake up.

For no reasons, we got talking. We would pray on phone. He would talk me to sleep on phone. Assist me with office work. I will sing to him on phone... Later he told me how they got my number and that he's heard a lot about me. When his relative told him about me, he remembered seeing me those Christmases while I was still growing. So he knew me but I did not. He proposed to me on phone and said we should pray for Peace of mind. If I feel no peace, I can say No!

The relationship blossomed on phone from a far distance. I asked if he was on a bet to get me. I couldn't fathom the whole thing. It was too real. I got my pictures across to him. And he did same. To proof that he is for real, he said we should have my Introduction same December, 2007.

I remember a List I had written down of my Dream man which I kept inside a precious bible given to me by my late mum. I got the List out and my desired requirements ALL clicked. I had other suitors but a voice told me to let go of all the other guys and focus on this young man I was yet to meet. My late mum also visited me in my dreams and gave me instructions and consent.

He got me closer to God. I prayed my way through it all. I never met any man/woman of God...so that in the event of irreconcilable differences, i will bear my cross alone and not blame my pastor. I fasted and prayed. I was so into God that even when I am not fasting, I did not feel hungry. Told my mentors about him but, ONLY one person knew the whole truth.

Everything worked together for our good. I was asked so many questions and given advice. Of course we were dating so its presumed so. I asked questions and so did my family. Customary engagements are done in the village. I prayed before saying or replying any questions about him. I told my dad that the family of boyfriend/suitor wants to have the 3stages of Introduction in December. We fixed a date 31/12/07.

I convinced my dad to let me go ahead of time to prepare for the Introduction. He permitted me. We agreed to meet in the village. Twas festive period. His people were amazed when he told them dates for 3stages of Introduction being 29th, 30th and 31st.

I got to my home town on 27/12/07 and waiting right there for me at the Bus park was my husband. There we saw for the FIRST TIME. We flowed. He was all over me. Wasn't a stranger. He took me to his people. They loved me.

My family and relatives arrived home on 28th and the whole events took place. (I made sure my bride price was not paid, just in case I see something to changed my mind). I was 23yrs young so I wasn't under any pressures. After which on 1st of January, 2008 they traveled back to base. I remained behind with my aunt. We had the traditional visits to my relatives with my aunt. And later for the first time, we both traveled to his base.

We continued dating and exchanging visits. We got customarily and statutorily married on a Friday and Saturday in November, 2009.
Sometimes we laugh at our Meeting Point and say "God's hands are involved". Imagine meeting your spouse for the first time 1day to your Engagement. Lolll.

Its been God all the way. As humans, we have had experienced our share of marital turbulence but our love keeps growing by the day, months, and years; we are happy parents of adorable children; and admiration to many couples both young and old.

To God be the glory!!!

*singing* 9yrs don waka, we still dey carry go, nobody waka nobody go solo, Baba God oo na ur grace oo ....

*WOOOOOW are you for real?Amazing!....Congratulations,may your marriage walk the long haul!..AMEN

  3. 😮😮😮. Beautiful story, when God is involved it's always right.
Imagine if it was a worldly relationship, you'd have fears like what if he's not my type, I need to taste what I'm going to get for the rest of my life, but with God just trust him and let go.
It's not like we don't know these things but stubbornness won't let someone be great. God help us.

  6. Nice story and meeting point. But I don't think dead people communicate to us through dreams as the poster just said. Most times, dreams come as the result of the predominant thoughts or imaginations we have before sleeping. No dead man or woman has the ability to communicate to us in dreams.

In my own understanding, as shared in this story, the best soul mate one can get is the man/woman who draws you near to God. If you are lucky to get one, hold him/her tight.

  11. 3 years ago, I met my husband through my younger sister. We live in Uk and my husband lives in Nigeria. We got talking on phone and through Skype and on my birthday, roughly after 4 months he proposed to me through Skype. Arranged the ring through my sisters. I accepted his proposal and traveled down to Nigeria for the wedding after 3 months. (Not that I never doubted myself or the whole stuff but I kept faith and believed that I found the right man). Today is our 3 years wedding anniversary. It hasn't been fun ride all the way, but the journey is worth it! We are our biggest cheerleaders and I can't imagine life without him. He completes me. I thank God everyday for the decision to accept his proposal even without setting eyes on him. So many times we have asked ourselves, "why did you take the risk?" But the truth is that life in itself is a risk. You win some, and you lose some. But in this journey, I decided it will be a win all the way. Happy anniversary to me and my sweet chocolate!!! We made the right decision!!!

  15. In this life there's no perfect way to meet your spouse. Some people meet and do the whole dating and works for years and still the marriage will be a flop. Some dive head in not following any rules and they are happy.
On the other hand you can dive head in and regret it and then start blaming yourself... I have come to realise that marriage is destiny.
Talk to God and follow your heart, don't look at how A or B did it.
Congratulations on your marriage and may the love between you two never die.
