The Meeting Point 47

I love this story!

This is my own 'how we met' Beefess. I got an employment with an internet service provider company as a call centre agent. Prior to the employment, I didn't know how to operate a computer but I lied in my CV that I was computer literate.

My friend whom we had both worked together as a receptionist in a hotel helped with the employment. The morning I was to go for the interview which will be a typing test, I branched at one cyber cafe and asked the cafe attendant to show me how to do the basics like opening microsoft word and excel sheet, my friend already hinted about the procedures. The cafe attendant tried to discourage me that it isn't possible to learn the basics with such little time but for where, I no gree, told him to show me and I paid him a token.

Two hours after, I was at the company, we were about 10 and I knew I was the only one with little or no knowledge on computers. I was sha praying that God should make me lucky coz I needed the job badly.

Well, it was my turn for the typing test, guess what, the word page had already been opened, they just needed to know how fast one can type in case a client calls and needs an information within a short time. I was given a paper which contains the words to type and I did quite alright. I was among the lucky six that would take the next interview. We were directed to one of the conference rooms with the instruction that the I.T person in charge of trainings will attend to us.

When we got there, the I.T guy wasn't there yet so we sat and wait. Few minutes later, this gentle guy walked in and apologised for keeping us waiting. He had this oyinbo accent and in my mind I say shuo, this one no be Nigerian?

He started asking questions about computers, what and what we can do and remember I no sabi jack so I just kept quiet while others were busy telling him all he wanted to hear.

Two weeks after the training on handling calls and computer, I started work officially and this I.T guy happened to be in my office. I wasn't enjoying the job initially because the setting was too formal but I didn't have a choice, so most times when I am less busy, I will just open Youtube and start streaming, listening to music. This was against the company's policies but I did it anyway.

This I.T guy would come to my desk and ask me to close the page, I would, but once he leaves, I go open am again. He got tired of coming to me and so he blocked the social sites remotely.
One sunday afternoon (we work everyday but get a day off in a week) he came to meet me for a particular song lyrics and I told him to open the social site that I will download for him. He opened the site and I downloaded the lyrics but I later got to know that it was just in a bid to start a conversation with me coz he knows the song word for word.

We got talking about music that day and it generated into personal lifestyle. He was to close before me but he stayed behind and gisted with me till I closed. He is an introvert, he doesn't have any personal relationship with any of us at the office so I was surprised when he came to me. I enjoyed the conversation and was kinda flattered that day.

The next day was a Monday and so everywhere was tensed, no time for much pleasantries, he came by my desk at break time and asked if we could go for lunch together, meanwhile, this is someone that doesn't leave the company's premises oh, all the oyinbo oga's liked him so well because he was very committed to the job, he was the real MVP in the company.

We went to one nearby canteen and had lunch, I couldn't order for my usual because I was now careful. We ate and returned to work, later in the day, I saw a chat pop up on my system and it was him asking if we could do dinner over the weekend. For my mind, I don say yes but told him I wasn't sure but will let him know before the weekend.

We went for the dinner and we had a very lengthy talk, told him about my then boyfriend who was abroad and was doing shakara for me, he gave me his phone to go through his messages and see for myself how his love life has been. I saw many text messages from him to his ex girlfriend begging her, from the messages on his phone, it was obvious he was the one in love with the girl and the girl was just collecting money from him. The babe wouldn't pick his calls until the month is going to an end, she will play nice for the salary week and once bobo drops money, she go form vex sha ni, and the circle continues. Our story was similar and we were just sympathising with each other.

He dropped me at home and just as I was about to alight, he called me and we kissed, the kiss was heavenly oh. if not that we were outside, the kiss for turn something else.

Next day at the office, we couldn't look into each others eyes, we avoided each other for some days only for him to forward a mail to me, he got an offer for a job at another internet service provider company with over 200% salary increment. I signalled him to meet me at the conference room and once he entered I couldn't hold my joy, I hugged and we kissed not minding if anyone comes in.

He resumed at the new place and asked me for a date, we went on a date and he started the 'toasting' line. I say don't talk too much abeg, I don gree since sef. We both laughed and went on to have our meal oh. That was how we started the affair.

12months after, my bobo don become 'big boy' and his ex started calling him. I asked him what was going to happen and he said I should just trust him, there was no going back.

We got married the following year and its been 5years with 3 kids. Every childbirth comes with a car gift and now I am eyeing one car but we don agree say 3 don do, beefess, teach me plan to collect another car now.
Thanks Stella for this platform, you are just the best at what you do.

Your account of your story is nice but not so special as many marriages started off as office romance. Yes, men do buy their wives lavish push gifts but buying you cars each time makes one wonder if the previous cars were decent cars cos what do u need 3cars for? 2 is still okay, 3cars = 3 perrishable items. Just saying unless he's a billionaire
