APGA’s ‘Acting’ National Chairman Okafor, Dies At 47

Gloom enveloped Enugu State yesterday as the news of the death of the ‘acting’ National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ozo Nwabueze Okafor, filtered into town. He died yesterday morning after a brief illness at the age of 47.

Circumstances surrounding the demise of the young politician, who was a two-term chairman of Enugu South Local Council, were still sketchy as at press time. He was, however, reported to have died in Enugu.

His bosom friend and former House of Representative member for Enugu North and South, Offor Chukwuegbo, who confirmed the incident, said it was a “sudden one”, adding that he was still shocked over the development.

“It is unbelievable because he has been a vibrant young man. He suddenly became ill and was rushed to the hospital where he died,” the erstwhile federal lawmaker stated.

Okafor became APGA’s ‘acting’ chair following the alleged removal from office of Chief Victor Oye in October last year by the members of the National Working Committee (NWC), a case that is still before the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Why do you people talk any how here all the time. This man has been sick for more than two years. He had kidney problem and was treated in India afterwards he spent some time in the US. He was frail and was managing his situation. So tell me how you know him and his story? Get out of my sight bush girl.

      Btw he had health issues.

    4. The health issues has to do with failing kidneys. The platinum lounge doesn't sound like where someone battling kidney disease should be going. I am sure the gist would have gone down over bottles of alcohol. So, good you didn't go. People should learn to take their health seriously.

    2. Queen I doubt if he was not killed. I saw him last December(two weeks ago),he was very lively and jovial as usual.Okpochengene that attended events on Saturday without complaint, was it not that Sunday morning that he felt sick and was taken to Niger Foundation, the same morning he died. Any body can fall sick and visit hospital at any time, seeing him in a hospital in 2015 does not mean that he has a terminal illness. RIP to his soul

    3. Well said Linda. Okpochengene was not killed. I do not think I am in the right position to disclose the illness anyways. He got back from UK early December and was due U.S late Dec. He moved the date to January only for death to come.

I feel for his wife so much. She hasn't taken her call yet.

      much said. outa post.

  10. Wow,the ignorance of Nigerians are alarming. With this story I know believe we are very ignorant people as a nation. Stella, the man in question died of kidney failure. He has not been ok for the past two years. He did surgery in India and US as well. He was just managing his health the past years.
It is time for Nigerians to speak out about cause of death and stop lying about it. Speaking out is educative instead of hyping it on juju and or no juju man as some are making it look. No body killed him he was sick. Annoying lots.
