Big Brother Naija In South Africa Brouhaha..

Big Brother Naija 2017 is currently ongoing but sadly/interestingly,the Live show is holding in South Africa....

And Nigerians are being made to watch the show that is purely made in Nigeria... that should have aired for free in Nigeria.....

I am wondering why it was named Big brother Naija.

The Nigerian Broadcasting Commission needs to explain to Nigerians what is going on? Say No to Big brother naija airing live in another Country!
Who does that? it is all shades of wrong abeg!

Or am I the one that doesnt understand?

What is your take on this please?

Stupid you. It's a for profit show, tv & radio stations do 24hours year round broadcasting, what is a few weeks? Look for a good reason, fish joining bandwagon of no light. Ewu sombori!

    4. Me too I was angry at the beginning. Later I saw reason with them. In a country that I had to pile my clothes for almost a month waiting for light to come so I can do my laundry or else burn fuel to wash it with gen. And it came around 3am I woke quickly to wash and also iron all the clothes I had been stacking, is it same country you want them to air a program that needs 24/7 light and security provision?
Abeg I hate this country. Nobody knows how much. I should have jettisoned outter this godforsaken place when I had the chance years ago. You can't even plan anything and the plan will go the way u wanted. Fake place. Once u cook and store freezer they will take light for two weeks

    7. There is actually no reason. If you cannot do business with us then don't come for our market. Indomie, gala, cocacola and co still have their companies in Nigeria. What about the Nolly wood that churn out movies everyday? Let the government stop the airing! And let the others learn. Once this trend starts, others will copy. What if every industry follows suit? This thing was started by THE VOICE NIGERIA and I want to believe that it is starting to become a trend.
Nigeria is in its lowest economic state now, little employment, and local productions will add a little boost to our economy, 1million of such productions will do marvelous for our economy. Now this is contributing to further crumbling of our economy cos the viewers and audience is almost 100percent Nigerian. If you feel that you are better than other companies that are still producing in Nigeria, then take your viewing to somewhere else. Afterall, there are harsh conditions in other places in d world, weather, policies etc yet people still struggle and manage them. Nigerian government should not allow this.

    1. This is how we always neglect important issues and we say "there are more pressing issues". This is an important issue also. There are implications for this. If we look at the bigger picture and try to understand, you will realise the implications.

It's all shades of wrong. Abeg, it's shameful, when we are trying to stop foreign investors from boycotting Nigeria, Nigerian investors are doing otherwise. Sad!if their excuse is power failure why not approach NEPA or whatever they are called now to have an understanding. Politicians, business investors, individuals all carry our money to foreign lands, how is Nigeria supposed to develop. This is part of what is attributing to the hardship in the land.....

    3. 👏 Is that so??? Tell me,how important is it?? Does this put food on your table?? Does it send your children to school?? I bet it doesn't. Therefore I don't see why I should let myself be bothered by a private body's decision to take their show to another country afterall when the prize money is won it still won't add value to the nigerian economy.

Which cement house do u want to be wiring in naij? Add to no light, add to security risk. Ejo, they should probably NOT have done it, considering its BBNAIJA, since the country could not deliver what it takes to have it filmed here. Shikena. A crying shame. To imagine that this is what Tinapa would have been excellent for...where is Tinapa now? Na wa for naija. Na wa.

      Delete
    7. Please stop with the inverter cant carry this and that. There are different capacities of inverters. There are some that would conveniently power an AC [1.5hp or 2hp self], fridge and the usual lights, ceiling fan, etc.
If they were to use inverters in the house it obviously wouldn't be one. How to charge? Ever heard of Solar panels/energy? Besides generators can charge inverters, no?
If they really wanted to do this here, they would have and that's the truth. The show is to make profit and not an NGO. Do you have any idea how much they rake in ratings alone? TV stations, malls don't run on 24/7 electricity or what? Cause suddenly electricity is a major issue. Hasn't it always been a problem?
Then all these people with kidnappings, book haram, etc. Is the house supposed to be built in Sambisa forest or what?

  16. Sounds wrong on paper, but in reality it cannot be held in Nigeria! Reason: no power!!! It's gonna cost them a whole lot to keep power on 24/7 for 72 abi 90 days. As for me, BBNaija is least of our worries and this is a clear case of mispriorities however i read the decrees or acts of BON (broadcasting organization Of nigeria) which in summary says that it must be 20% Nigerian content and 10% African content so invariably it was still done in an african country which is the 10% and it is even more than 20% Nigerian, so please no cause for complains...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Initially I was upset about it but when you think about the cost implication I don't blame them. This should be a wake-up call for us in Nigeria.

    ReplyDelete
  24. That's to show you how low Nigerian is sinking.

The cost of producing BBN in Naija is freaking high.

In Nigeria, power outage is a constant issue. Some people haven't had light for 2weeks straight. Some others 1month +

Now let's see to a hypothetical analysis- if I run my diesel gen for 19hours a day at the cost of 480k, pray tell how much that would translate to in 24hours x 72days. About 40something million right?

    That's electricity alone.

The cost of feeding the housemates, toiletries and other expenses have not been estimated yet.

Now how much is the grand prize again? 25million and a brand new car.

    Profit over loss =...........

    So you see?
    What do you conclude?
    A shame right?

  30. Stella please make enquiries before you make a post like this

We have been on your blog complaining the situation of Nigeria everyday and you still say this??

Do you know having light for 3hrs is a luxury? That means they have to power the house with diesel generator.. And if time is not taking, theu will have to power for 24hours.. Do you know diesel sells for about 250 per litre? Do you know that to run diesel for 24hrs you need about 80 to 100 litres of diesel. Now that's about 20k to 25k everyday for diesel, multiply that amount by 1 week gives you 140k to 150k weekly then by the 12 weeks thEy are staying And see what they are spending on diesel alone. Then talk about food that is overly expensive. And other things. Why do you think manufacturing companies keep folding in Nigeria.? Why do you think people go to China to manufacture things and bring it to sell in Nigeria? Why do you think the cost of living is high. Dollar is almost 500 Naira and you want them to shoot here what profit is in it for them or you think they don't want to make profit.

So allow them go to South Africa, infsct if they will get cheaper services in China, theu should go there..

No one opens a business to loose. No one should loose in business because they want to do good in the nation. Most foreign companies in Nigeria have gone back to their country. Becausr theu were loosing. Companies are downsizing and things are going rough and you want them to be here.

  38. I think is completely wrong from every ramification, yes cost of logistics would be higher in Nija but then it is worth it cos the highest viewership comes from Nija and it is also a Nigerian brand. yes if the brand Nigeria doesn't influence their profit base they could as well have tagged it big brother SA, The list they could have done is to re circle the proceeds regardless of production cost cos either way they will still make profit.

All I know is that God will not come down to rule this country for us. He is TOO BIG. He has given us brains to use but we keep electing numb-skulls into sensitive positions. Dubai was sand not too long ago, if you haven't been there yet, you need to add it to your bucket list. It is beautiful. They used their brain and their resources. The same thing God gave us. Another huge problem nigeria has is THE PEOPLE, they never see anything good in this country and are always cursing the land Jehovah gave them to build, how can you prosper in a land you curse everyday? Sometimes i just wonder if nigerians are an offshoot of the biblical israelites. They complain and murmur against God and life too much, very few praise God from the heart, most just pay lip service to praise. Nigerians by and large worship mammon. Money is their god. Jehovah sees and knows that most of you worship mammon and glory will continue to depart from the country until there is genuine return to Him. Haven't you all wondered why the country is the way it is upon all the millions of churches that abound? Go figure.

  42. Anon 10.43 that asked if Stella is blogging in naija, you are right.
Stella imagine if you have to blog at home daily and for the whole day you are home, there is no light. You have to be on gen, the cost ehnnnn.
Then you open window for fresh air bcos u want to minimise fuel for AC later. you start hearing noise all over the place.
You start ur best and start blogging. You now leave home at 12 to go pick ur kids. You spend like 3hrs on Island traffic.
You get home, no lite, no water. You on gen again, pump water and start struggling with making lunch/dinner. Bcos of no lite some foods have spoilt.
    This country get problem abeg.
Our leader is presently in UK relaxing. Why didn't he go to obudu cattle ranch.

  45. The house mates are Nigerian and that's what matters. Truth is our country isn't a convenient place to shoot. The cost of diesel alone will fly all the housemates to sa and have some change. And what about if scarcity starts in the middle of thier shoot. How about the location. Where will they find an J expensive lounge like that... thier heads will be cut off with price. Who are the producers ?if they are south Africans of cos they will shoot in thier country. Abeg we have more problems in baskets face it

  46. Stella at first I was mad as hell, but let's look at it, cost of living in Nigeria is high (housemates have to eat) no 24 hours power supply (more expenses) NOTHING is working in Nigeria, and these guys are in business to make profit...I'm Nigerian and I'm a 100% behind #BBN holding in SA

  49. This is the problem small business owners deal with.
    Power!
Alot of Nigerians are willing to work in this country, but half of their problems lie in this issue.
So instead of discussing Multi choice and their investment choices.. Let the federal government focus on giving us constant light.

Apart from light.. the insecurity in the country will not even allow them sleep with their two eyes closed.
    This is business.. not sentimental.

Let me not even rant about Multichoice and their 'exploits' in this country. Story for another day.

  53. Same reason our able president Buhari went abroad for treatment/vacation. He should just die there. Acting up like an Active snail. Stella the situation of things in Nigeria is bad very bad. Nothing good is coming out of this government. So they should buy how many liters of diesel cos of BBA naija

  54. #Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you'll never, ever have enough*

  55. Shameless people in government.....do they want kidnappers to kidnap the participants and crew members of BBA ni or they want them to buy diesel for 78days non stop or that they should go and queue to buy gas.......This scam change APC government should revive our wobbling economy before talking rubbish

  57. No light in Nigeria abi? Agreed, but Multichoice refused to relocate their offices to SA, lame excuse to me. If they still run their businesses here, clearly they are making profit.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I see a lot of sentiments here and its obvious quite a lot of the people here are oblivious to what it takes to run a business in Nigeria. The government offers no support whatsover to businesses in this country,we are talking about multiple taxation, the time it takes to obtain basic approvals (which u have to pay bribes for) cost prohibitive logistics expenses...You will hire Mopol, feed and accommodate them and fight like a mad dog to repatriate your dollars assuming you make any profit. Have you asked yourself why BBN hasn't shown in ten years? From NBC,to Senate/Mass, and even vendors and suppliers to the program kept blackmailing them and forcing them to shut down. We should fix these problems that send investors/investments out of our shores and s to playing to the gallery. Nigeria is ranked 168th in the Ease of doing business index. 168!!! Do you have any idea how abysmally poor that ranking is. For those of you that don't know...THE VOICE NIGERIA WASN'T SHOT IN NIGERIA.
