Labour Room Drama 141

Shuuuuuu,see drama ooooh....

Hi Stella, i am an ardent follower of SDK blog. Though i don't comment. Its always fun to read the beevees comments and opinions. So here is my LRD.

I got married in june 2014 while i was still in my service year. And i took in immediately. I had a crazy 1st trimester, spitting, vomiting, morning and evening sickness, allergic to smells and fragrances, I couldn't cook, i craved mama put food all through. Infact everything made me so irritable and angry at hubby. I almost felt like going to terminate it but thankfully i didnt. ThankGod for my PPA bosses who gave me a long leave during the period.

After the 1st trimester. I was back to normal. And everything went smoothly just that i gained quite a lot of weight during pregnancy. Fast forward to a week to delivery, i came for antenatal and the gynaecologist said my baby is OP-wasnt position properly for delivery but that hopefully before my 40th week, it would adjust. I prayed all the prayers i could. My parents n hubby too.

On my edd i started feeling contractions with pains like mild menstrual pains. All day and all night. I didn't go to the hospital because my mum told me not to go yet. The next morning i woke up to ease myself then i saw show. I cleaned up and woke hubby up. That day was also presidential election day 28th March 2015. So i called the matron and she told me to come to the hospital because of the election and curfew.

On getting to the hospital at about 6am, the female dr on duty checked me and said i was already 4cm dilated. I was taken to the labour room. The nurses gave me 2 slices of bread and tea to take as breakfast. After a while another male dr came and shook hand inside. Chai the pains was something else that i hit him with my leg. I told him "Oga you nor dey pity person shuu, cant you be nice like the female dr?" hehehe. He just said 'madam you have not started seeing pains yet'.

When he left and i felt a little better. I started playing candy crush with my phone and chatting with my girlfriends. My hubby say madam drop phone. I say ' why, dont worry when I push the baby out, i will say sweeeeet like candy crush" just then the gynaecologist walked in and said "see this woman oh, shes laughing inside labour room, oya nurse bring the induction kit lets see if she will still have strength to laugh"

Omo as soon as they connected the drip. I saw the heavens and earth merge together. No be person tell me make i fling my phone. I took off the wrapper covering me. The pains were just excruciating. Then the gynaecologist came and broke my water. Shook hand and fingers inside. As in ehn the pain was terrible. My hubby and the nurses will be telling me sorry. Funny enough i didn't cry or shout, i was moaning deeply and sighing. Pulling curtains, bed stand. Anything i could lay my hands on. I couldn't pray, or sing or think. All i was thinking was the baby.

Some hours later the dr came to check. The baby was still OP and his heartbeat was weak. So the brought oxygen tank. My mother was praying outside. My hubby was feeling the pains with me, the look on his face almost made me laugh but the pains didn't let me.

At 12pm. I was already 7cm dilated but it refused to move more than that. At 4pm. The dr came and checked and told me that i would have to go for emergency CS. Because my babys position didn't change and the labour was stressing the baby. He spoke to my hubby and hubby didn't even let him finish. He said 'bring lemme sign for it abeg'.

My mum and one of the nurses even started praying for me so that i wouldn't have to go through cs but i was already tired of the pains. I kept shouting on the drs to make the contractions stop immediately since i wasnt going to push again. Na im them tell me say Anaesthesiologist no dey hospital. And because it was election day, he couldn't drive to the hospital by himself. They had to send the ambulance to fetch him. Chai i wanted to craze. They now started prepping me for surgery meanwhile the contractions where hitting me back to back.

About 40 mins later the anaesthesia dr arrived. I was wheeled in to the theatre and in less than 30mins my baby boy was brought forth. When they opened my belle, my son's eyes were wide open, the drs were just teasing me about it.

My labour experience made me respect my mother and women all over the world because labour no be come chop. my boy is 1yr and 9months old now and i am preparing for LRD 2 in a matter of weeks. i know God will see me through and all other beevees like me.

Attached below are pictures for your eyes only.

  16. OP is occiput posterior, meaning the baby is facing up. Stella, the abdomen is wide open because after the transverse cut, it is held open by retractors.
