Office Brouhaha

There is always Brouhaha and gossip in the Office....Did/Do you have any that might be Interesting to share? How did it end up?
The purpose of this is for others who might be facing same to learn
 from yours ...

Dear Stella.

Where do I start from now? I work in a financial institution, started working last year. My first experience at the work place was the normal cold attitude of staff and colleagues as a new staff. But the male staff or better still a colleague in my office, behaves as if he owns the place, no one is up to his standard, talks rudely, authoritatively and so annoying. I am not saying am perfect but the attitude is seriously so annoying and uncalled for.

Like two weeks into my resumption, the so called colleague opened his mouth to tell me that, I cannot sit close to him, that the company will look for another office for me. I was like, what? I come go ask, if na two same departments dey for the building ooo.

His attitude and character is so dirty, that I pity the wife at home. People intend to forget that, they will definitely leave that work, place and people one day, and then meet in the nearest or fastest future. Being humble pays a lot. We don’t know where we will meet tomorrow. Backbiting, badmouthing, gossiping and all sort of rubbish.

Advice: we should try and treat people well wherever we meet them….be it the rich class, middle class, poor class or what have you. Nobody knows tomorrow and it takes just a second for a person’s table to TURN……

*I  have had Office Brouhaha so i know what it is like..It is horrible and makes you hate everything that comes with the environment.

    2. Stella can we talk about abuse in the office, the kind of verbal and emotional abuse dt happens in the banking sector is sickening, I quit and pple thought I was crazy. A lot of my former colleagues are miserable but r holding on to the job hoping to find another. I am still jobless but I am sane and happier, learning a skill now and hoping to complete it soon and start up. Sometimes I wonder if this is the same reason pple hold on to abusive marriages cos thr hubby provides for them. Am just tired biko.

    3. I have seen wiin in the hands of colleagues. A guy wanted to marry me and was asking my colleague , my bestie as at then about me ... All this girl could say was I like money and I sleep with married men. The funniest part is its food I love and if u want to front to entice me I will eat u wella. I don't go dating someone's husband or tasking someone for money except I have told you I'm not interested and u decide to entice me. Chaii; I cried to the point I developed watery eyes disease. The marriage crashed sha. It's even later I started hearing the main gist that how can I get married before her bla bla bla. The story is plenty and if I continue I will be decoded but C.C.A nee O. One day karma will hug u so tight. Not even your globetrotting husband will be there for u.

    5. I remember my first job after NYSC with an oil servicing firm with an out station office in Abuja. The MD had OCD, and would ask us not to wear shoes in the office. We should either buy slippers that we never wore out, or walk barefooted. Reason: The shoes bring in dust, and the sound of shoe on tile gives him headache! He would bend down and be looking for traces of dust. smh! Craziness!

    1. My own office brouhaha ehn, I don't even know where to start from...
My boss is sleeping with my female colleague and this babe goes about badmouthing me to my boss saying all sort of God knows what lies to him. Mind you, I'm all about my business, and because of past experience during my internship in a media company, I became very discreet and I would just face my job like my life depends on it, no time for gossips, asslicking and unnecessary friendships. This babe however is very influential in my office, in a team of four members in my department, two females and two guys, you won't believe it that these so-called men lick her ass probably cos of the fear of not losing their jobs. But me I nor send them o, sotey I became the 'other party'. They kept on plotting lies and finding faults just cos they were threatened by me in their midst. To cut the long story short o, even the so-called boss started skipping salaries, forming lies that the bank owes him, bla bla bla. He owes me 5months salary now(over 500k). I've stopped going to the office o, and I'm already seeking legal redress as regards my money. I'm done with the tension and bad blood over what now? Mtchew! And to even think they know little or nothing about the job. Very unprofessional and uncouth people! Even though I've not gotten my money, I'm thankful that I still have my sanity and my loving mom who won't bear me shed a tear.

You never do anything that satisfies, as far as you are not there language person, you would go for field work they would bring their brother not even qualified just to take over your extra choppings, just because they speak same language. Its just Gods grace.

My elder sis issue nko, story for another day, she resumed this year immediately she sat on her seat, it was as if someone hit her, from her hand to leg, she couldn't use, it was prayer all through, now she is better.they use language to insult her, not knowing she has started understanding the language gradually. Its not easy to work with Yoruba's , forgive me but we have lots of ugly experience with them.

Your belief in primordial things also affects the way you see others. There is a saying that goes whatever you are capable of you see in others and whatever you look for in people you will surely find

    9. The Yorubas are actually very accomodating. Like the ibos did in the early days of Nigerian nationhood when Aba hosted people of all tribes and they called it home. Most parts of yorubaland host people of other tribes without conflict. Let's drop all this talk of tribe and tongue. It's old and unproductive. A lot of people who tell stories of tribal marginalization have never even experienced it. Get a clear lens and make your own experiences. Nigeria needs all of us to pull together to be greater as a sum than our individual parts

  23. The job I got after my NYSC, there was this delta babe that grew up in oshodi, in fact she showed me the character of Yoruba pple, I had to conclude that individual traits are a product of environment and not just tribe, she behaves like a typical yoruba girl, if not that i'm partially Yoruba would have wanted nothing to do with the tribe, I was so surprised the day I found out she was actually delta Ibo. Very Razz Person.
She is very lousy and even my boss was scared of her, the day she picked on me, I was crying called hubby and he was so angry.
Praise God I left the job, I dislike domineering pple. She feels she's indispensable, her male colleague told me how to avoid her and I followed his advice.
Some people just think once a person has a small stature, they can bully them around.
My Boss liked me and it also caused jealously...mehn I hate office brouhaha and I really prefer working with guys.

Womanizing nko? The man chases anything and everything on skirt. He stays in his office and fucks like 3 per day.

  35. We had wahala at our office when two external contractors nearly came to blows. Choi. They had been business partners for decades ooo but one got widowed years back while the other kept mistreating his wife to the extent of having a sweet undergrad mistress that he bought a cool car for. When his wife confronted him he called her old cargo and broke her arm in a beating. Well, the main tori is that the widowed man for decades had given his friend advice to live in peace with madam but it fell on dear ears. Now as a widower he got so close to madam that she at 63 has moved in with him with full support of her kids who are happy she has finally found the gumption to leave their tyrant daddy.

Hian. Tyrant came to contractors bid opening at our office and just attacked the widowed calling him wife snatcher. Widower calmly told him divorce papers cometh and warned him to stop stalking them or driving past their house everyday to spy on them playing board games at the varenda. I can remember going to a shop one day and the women there spoke badly about Yorubas. I've been there a couple of times and the owner of the shop didn't know that I was Yoruba. She was now trying to redeem herself once she found out.Let me not even talk about my flatmates, who judged me from the get go cos of my tribe and only started to warm up to me, after it dawned on them that they were wrong about me. 50. Last time, we saw an otumokpo hung at the back of the toilet door. The owner must have forgotten to tie it back to her waist after using the loo. Meanwhile we are very few females (excluding the interns) in the office (4 to be precise). Everyone pretended like it was not them. But there is this madam i suspect it belongs to. The way she controls one of the ADs is strange. hmmm Make i no talk too much sha. Plenty strange things

There is also this one that feels she is too important. Talks down on people and backbite like no other. We hear she also shines the condos of the Ogas to gain favour. Travels round the globe but only has two channel bags to show for it. I wonder when she will realize life is in phases.

The guys nko, they gossip like crazy. greedy, selfish and want everything to themselves.

Make i stop here for now

  51. My first job after NYSC was in a financial institution. After spending about two years in Lagos surviving sexual harassment from customers, I requested to be transferred to Abuja because I wanted to apply for my Masters degree. My boss in Abuja started making advances towards me and I got to know that he does that to young ladies there. I made sure to collect money and gifts from him well enough before telling him off. Almost immediately, he approached another young lady in the office and with 3 other ladies we decided to set him up. We did and took everything in his car. I left Abuja and returned to Lagos. I got another job but it was a bad experience as the MD wanted to have sex with me at all cost. He later started frustrating me at work and I decided to resign.
