Osu Part 2

Yesterday we discussed the Osu system in Nigeria and how it affects those who marry those who have been labelled as OUTCASTS (Osu)
Let's discuss further please...Take a sit on this couch I borrowed, will return it today.

Are you An Osu or you married one?
What are the implications of being one or being with one?
What about the Children from a non Osu person who marries an Osu?Should one worry or hope that someday this too might phase out?
There are so many questions!

Like Someone Confused,A BV sent this in...

''I read the chronicles post of yesterday regarding the Osu catse system. Some blog visitors enlightened us on the history of this system but one thing struck, most people kept mentioning that if you end up marrying one you are faced with curses and evil.
What kind of curses Are they talking about? Is it financial, spiritual or mental?. No one expanded on this. So please could you post this for further clarification so we all will be fully aware of the consequences.

Thank you and have yourself a lovely
week''.

    2. The trolls Ngozi and co that replied me yesterday, it seems you both have a hard time understanding English. My village has no OSU. And we don't recognize it either. For instance if an OSU wants to marry from my place, its not an abomination. Kapish? I know you won't still understand. "Dumbras" Anybody from Enugwu ukwu in Anambra to confirm this?

    3. Love conquers all,but it isnt always enough as well..

from what i have learnt regarding the Osu caste system;Their best shot/solution is inter-tribal/inter-ethnic marriage..

your family cant help you alone if you are to marry an osu from your tribe..cos they arent the only people involved in the marriage(the community/clan is also involved, and they do inquiries before marriage as well)..But when its inter-tribal,there are enough chances to be married and live in peace..

i cant write much tho cos i would really take space here..my advice is just what i stated above!!

PLEASE KINDLY CHECK YOUR PO, ON THE SETTINGS SECTION UNDER THE MY PAGE BUTTON, IF YOUR CURRENCY HAS CHANGED TO BITCOIN. CHANGE IT NOW TO NAIRA AND SAVE. SOME UPGRADES WERE PERFORMED AND THE SYSTEM CHANGED SOME ACCOUNTS. WITH THIS, SWITCHING BETWEEN NAIRA & BITCOIN IS NOW POSSIBLE.

  6. Poster, my thoughts exactly..
I have always heard about the osu caste system but I have never bothered to read up on it, up until yesterday.
So who here married an osu, and suffered for it?
I want to know the repercussions too.. And it will make more sense coming from someone that has been affected first hand.
Where I come from, there is no osu caste there.
What exactly will happen to me if I decide to marry an osu?
I have never seen an osu before, would like to meet one..
In all, I wish the tag of an osu can be removed..

  7. There are no curses. Those are mere beliefs of our fore fathers that once you are a slave or Ohu in local parlance, you are one because of a curse of poverty or lack of material things from the gods. Those are ancient beliefs which do not hold waters now.

SDK, under the new covenant there's no Jews nor gentiles, slave nor free born. We've all being washed, cleansed and sanctified by the blood of the new and ever lasting convenat, which is the blood of JESUS CHRIST.
My dad once told me some horrible things about the OSU caste system and I told him straight up under the new covenant there's nothing like OSU.
I think is high time we the youths from the Eastern part of Nigeria put out foot down and say ,yeah,we've had enough of that bull crap called OSU ,and now we want it to come to an end. We should abolish that nonsense. I don't give a freaking rat ass where a man comes provided he's born again and doing well am gonna so marry him.
Any one that think OSU caste system should not be abolish needs to be jailed for life. Haba jamman..
How will you keep punishing innocent generations for sins they knew nothing about.
If the whites were the one treating blacks this way ,we would have being shouting racism, how come we're the ones treating our fellow tribal men like second class citizens?
Any man or woman who sees a person they love and the person is born again, they should go ahead and marry them joor, under the law there's no more Course, Christ has taken all the course upon himself when he died upon the cross of Calvary, therefore there's no more condemnation for them that are in Christ Jesus.
The blood has paid all the price for us,so anyone that says otherwise is not a born again child of God.
By the way am not an OSU but I hate bullshit of all forms.

Whether we like it or not, a covenant with the devil has consequences. Some people run abroad bUT when it comes, it comes hard.

A friend of mine was dating a guy, they spent over a year, somehow, the guy found out she's Osu he didn't tell the girl,he quietly left and came to me for a relationship,I blatantly refused because I cannot date my friends ex,it was during our pep talk that he told me the girl is Osu that that was why he left her,I myself cannot even bring myself to ask my friend if she's Osu or not,so long as it does not affect our friendship then I have no issue with it.
I pray that the minds of the people will open so they can drop this Osu issue and move forward,if you see how they are been marginalized in their village eh,you will feel for them, they have them in many parts of the igbo state Imo state have more of it and some part of Abia state,I hear they are equally very rich,is just the stigmatization though, don't think there is any curse in marrying one sha...we need God to help us cleanse our mind sect

You attend the same wedding with an Osu,go to the same school, buy from the same market, fetch from the same stream, sit together in ⛪, do boy friend/girl friend with him/her, even collect 'dash'money from the person, get employment in an office owned by an Osu.When it comes to marriage, you will now remember Osu, Akuko n'egwu!

  34. In igbo land, the osu caste system no longer has the kind of power it has like in the olden days... The osu caste system can be traced to d ancient Nri Kingdom.. Those are the people who in time of war or any affliction ran to the shrine(deity) for protection.. Or those whom are been sacrificed to serve the deity.. An osu can be cleansed as well. There are some sacrifices and other stuffs that can be done to free one from it..but if one is not cleansed, generation to generation of the person wl Remain osu. Though (osu) is not a term to be used publicly as before cos in 1956 igbo leaders banned the common use of the word osu in referring to people of the caste....

So with are huge Christian population, upon our having churches on every street, all our MFM, deeper life, HOTR, RCCG etc, what have the Nigerian Christian populace done to bring an end to this archaic, ancient, demonic, and outdated culture. We carry ourselves and go for Shiloh, go for the Experience, go for Redeemed convention, and then turn around and refer to human beings that God created as OSU, that they are slaves, that they are not freeborn. I cry as I type this. What type of Christianity do we practice in this Nigeria? Someone will tell me he/she is born again, and that same person will they their family member cannot marry OSU. So, there's unnecessary discrimination between this two. There's absolutely no evil or bad luck on those that married ohu or Amadi in Nkanu. People just make laws that suit them. 2. @eyejay.... thanks dear. Pls don't bother dating an ibo man cos they are the culprits of this discrimination. Focus your attention and love on the non ibos(they don't care about the so called myth). Your rightful hubby will find you in due time and you will be happy all others never worked!

  49. There's always division somewhere and somehow. Reading through all of these didn't surprise me at all! Osu and freeborn... When will there be oneness anywhere in the world. Imagine my eastern people divided across something that is supposed to have been abolished.

  50. What of ume caste? Was shocked when I heard of it. They say those were taken to be lower than Osu. That they r always sick and die. Mordern studies have shown that it was Probably SS genotype that couldn't be explained in those days and since they married themselves they kept on dying. Can anyone explain further?

  51. My Anty was sent out of home after so many years of marriage wit her children, because she husbands family didn't ask/check her background cos her brother is very rich,na only money dem dey see then and she was smart/lucky (so she tot) but one day it happened and her marriage ended. But then again I expected the husbands people to return all they benefited from the marriage, like dia huz in the village and city, MIL bussiness.Sisters inlaw tutions and cars, d foolish horseband business and contacts, but No, he held unto them but rejected the fruits of his groin. My dear let's call a spade a spade, for every man or woman u hv had s*x or bussiness deals wit, bought or sold to, sat in d pub, or classroom/church/market, shaked, hugged (being in contact with) dat is an Osu,u have lost ur freeborn rights. our fore father ostracized US,made it clear never buy or sell to them.but no, long throat won't allow you,(hypocrites) so u and ur free born ass Shud do same. Am engaged to one and happy cos I dnt have to look over my shoulders like my aunt did.
