Pregnant Woman Beaten To Death On Christmas Day By Her Husband

Due Process advocate Emeka Ugwuonye posted this on his facebook....

WHY IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP HAMMERING ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Many times I have tried to shift attention away from domestic violence. But there are reasons why I could not do that. First, it is one of the aims and objectives listed on DPA Constitution. Second, everyday there is a new domestic violence case begging for my attention. That is; everyday some wife-beater beats his woman, and even kills her like in this case.

We just can't stop and we need to press harder against domestic violence. A member just reminded me of another deadly domestic violence case that nearly escaped my attention. Tomorrow, we shall pursue the animal that killed this pregnant woman. I hope he is not one of these men attacking me on our wall.

Contrary to what the wife-beaters think, I'm not really in a rush to damble into domestic violence cases. These cases are crying for my attention and these murderous husbands can't stop killing their wives. They just like to come on Facebook to judge me for my divorce.

*Will Domestic Violence ever end?it breaks my heart to read stories like this and i ask myself..WHY DIDNT SHE RUN WHEN SHE COULD?Why didnt her family force her out?Did she hide the fact that she was being abused?was this a one off?
So sad....especially for the baby that didnt make it.
I hope the man pays for his crime.

    2. Is either she decided to stay back bcoz of what people will say or bcoz of her children.
I don't think this is the first time the he goat is beating her.
Before you know it, the man will get married again n those children she was staying for will suffer it.

    3. Im sure her family and friends told her to stay and be praying for her husband to change. It's always like that

    4. My best friend is suffering DV, I have tried to make her leave, but she feels I am giving her wrong advice since I am happily married. But I told her my husband has never for once hit me. She is a house wife, and also uses the excuse of where do I go from here. In a million times I have tired to make her do something useful for her self. I got a school for her to teach and after working for 1year she just stopped that the pay was small (20,000) and she doesn't pay transport. Told her to go learn a skill, too much excuse. Oya open a little store at the front of your house, no, she's waiting for her husband to open the supermarket he promised her. I don tire for her matter.

    5. You may stay away from her or she might destroy your marriage. Remember you have done everything to advise / help her yet she remains stubborn or lazy. Please watch out the people you keep closer...

    9. Peace maker's own question is small. Imagine on facebook, one guy was saying the woman cheated. That must the man catch her pants down b4 he beats her. I'm like even "if" she cheated, why didnt he send her out. Women in abusive relationships, abeg run out of it ooo. The man won't change. You die, all in the name of "staying for ur kids" "what will pple say". Your life is more impt o. He kills u, he remarries, another woman will still bear the "Mrs".

James So she did something like any other human. Male/ female. Is that why she should die? Now I know something is really wrong with your Psyche. But that's OK for you. Any man that raises a hand against another especially female is not a man.

  14. Jesus this is terrible, may her soul and that of the baby haunt the idiot all the days of his life...this is just sad,not all marriages work and that is why divorce is necessary in such cases,so that divorce segment might just come handy bcos u never can tell who might be on the same road or journey this woman who has been killed was at a time and didn't know better..so it is good to learn from the mistake of others

  15. So sad,

Stella do an anonymous post on domestic violence and let them tell you why they are still there, you will shock.

I've never been physically abuse in my marriage so I'm one of the people that wonder why women remain in abuse marriages. I had a deep thought yesterday when a strong woman of 72 year old told me her experience 49 years old, she was throw out of her matrimonial home 2 month post natal. Meanwhile she already had a 3year old boy out of wedlock from a rapist friend who was married. She had to go begging because she doesn't want to leave single with kids from different father. So she had no choice than to beg and accept the infidelity of her husband right under her nose
it takes great courage to walk away from a marriage after so much sacrifice

  16. This marriage is not a do or die affair. I don't just get Nigerian women? wld you rather loose ur life all in the name of marriage.
From the 1st, 2nd beating you shld pack ur bags and leave that environment. A man that continuously batters you, does not love you. That isn't love.

    2. Anonymous this happens around the world. America, Europe, china. In china they beat some and strip them naked outside. It is a man vs woman issue not naija women vs men issue. Pls take note.

  17. Wow
I'm tired of hearing domestic violence cases.
Some Nigeria marriages nowadays is becoming like a jungle whereby d predator(husband) kills d prey(wife) & nothing is done about it.
Seems like the women prefer to die with their title Mrs, than leave the jungle called marriage.
May God give those still alive & suffering wisdom to do the right thing

  18. The issue of domestic violence has really eaten deep into the country and it is saddening and heart wrenching. So many times even when the lady tells her parents and family members, they will tell her its part of what marriage is about, keep enduring. Pastors will tell you God doesn't support divorce keep praying, your friends will tell you to manage that the society will judge you and that the devil you know is better than the angel you dont know and then you will stay there and keep enduring till the day you will be beaten to death. To every lady out there that wants to keep enduring just because you wana please your parents, just because you feel you dont know how to start again or just because you feel you dont wana leave your kids or because you dont want the society to judge you,my advice to you is its not worth it,your kids will suffer if you die,the society will still judge you and call you stupid for dieing, your parents will still live on if you die,you are the only one that will be wasted and if you are enduring because of love,i can only tell you that anyone that loves you will try as much as possible not to make you sad, will not beat you up @ the slightest provocation or make you feel useless. Please and please, leave any toxic marriage or relationship you are in for your own safety and sanity. We all can only advice you,its left to you to do the needful.

  20. I give this same advice over and over and over again. I have become a parrot. WOMEN EMPOWER YOURSELVES. Learn a trade, start a small business(pure water, biscuit, puff puff),do not let a man tell you to stop working, refuse point blank. Once a man hits you, RUN. Leave your shoes. Carry ur kids, RUN. There is more to life than living with a wife batterer, bully and a coward. Enjoy ur own company, make urself happy, read, travel, do charity etc.

I waste my breath. The validity and existence of most Nigerian women is marriage. smh

    2. Hmmmmm,I dint stay either, think I escaped death on the 5th of jan 2016,when my public toilet husband asked me for his house documents, I just thank God I dint say a word to him,cos he was with a very sharp knife nd his good for nothing family members were there oohh, he dint know they were round him to ruin his life, he later found it and said he met it just the way he left it,I just put to bed @ the tym and the baby was only 25days old, had c-section, he had pushed me earlier that night, was bleeding thru the nose and my stitches opened a little, I really don't feel like writing this now, but when r in a situation like this, don't let anger take a better part of u, lower ur voice, don't exchange words with an abusive idiot, I kept quite,I have 3boys,the youngest 25days old, couldn't take him to just any where that I won't b able to take proper care of him... My ex is "in the abroad husband" he stayed another 6months in naija,he became nice again, I played along... We would have sex at anytime nd every part of the house,he would hold on to me in the night like his life depended on it, if I had to pee, I would ve to lift his heavy arm from my body,my ass has to touch his dick every night for him to sleep at night,u know when u ve to turn ur back towards him and he will hold on to u from behind, some fools might tell me here he has changed, oh God answered my prayers, omo I dint pray ooh,I just needed my baby to b strong, after 6months "in the abroad husband" traveled, see movement, infact wonderment catch my family members self, cos I dint allow anybody visit me here,he doesn't know where I am,told my mum, dad and sis.... Nobody else, happy with my boys here. Take ur time to plan nd move far away from him to avoid stories like this... When u know wht u really want, then take tym out to plan, then move.

  22. Some times, some 'useless' families will tell u stay put.

While sometimes, the woman is scared of being termed a divorce.

I hate domestic violence and will never support one.

The day my husband beats me will be his last day on earth. Finish.

  23. I look at a lot of women and I feel so sorry. All in the name of bearing 'Mrs', they endure a lot of things. Marriage is not a do or die affair. It is the same society that tells you to stay there for the sake of your children that will judge you when he kills you. Ladies please be wise...

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm sorry about this. I think poverty is also a major contributing factor to this menace. What I mean is, most parents in Nigeria are in a hurry to marry off their daughter's to ease the burden on them. So coming back home to them is almost impossible. They'll never want to have you back. Also the biased society we live in isn't helping matters. If you dare break free from the shackles of your marriage, you're a loose woman. If you aren't married, wahala. Read that post about obedience to daddy husband and you'll see how their minds are already to programmed towards marriage. They weigh their options, decide to remain there till death comes knocking and therefore vicious cycle continues. It's quite pathetic but hey that's what has been going on, still going on and will keep going on till we change our mindset. Something has to happen for change to occur. Domestic violence is an alien to a blissful marriage. If you love and cherish something, you'll never destroy it. Marriage is so beautiful and sacred. Anything contrary to the peace and joy it brings is nothing but bondage. Choose your spouse wisely.
