Its the truth, I support the taxation on churches. These Pentecostal churches aren't charitable organizations they are businesses that are being passed down to family members and enriching the founders. The Catholic Church is the richest organization in the world, but its not controlled by one man and no pope has owned a private jet. Let's not bring sentiments into this. The Orthodox churches comply and pay taxes for their schools and hospitals even though they operate plenty charitable organizations such as orphanages and old peoples homes, I don't see why the Pentecostal churches who only operate profitable ventures such as schools shouldn't comply.

I think schools and hospitals should be made to pay tax irrespective of who owns them
Btw I don't see anything wrong with churches paying tax.....since most pastor aren't contributing positively to the society but only enriching themselves.

The gentleman is right and the law is right. The citizens need to be protected and the govt. cannot but do otherwise because that is what it meant to do against foreign and local enemies even those under the guise of religion. The Pentecostal religion is but a extreme and fraudulent Christianity that tries to claim it is accountable to God alone whereas controlled by greedy and self-seeking business men concerned neither for members wellbeing nor salvation. The govt. should take a deep look into these churches which not only encourage corruption but are empires of corruption. They have turned God's house into dens of armed robbers, disorderliness and immorality. cyberghoose said so.

How does a simple statement of fact become 'very deep' 'profound'?

Is obvious that if you are setting up for profit ventures, you MUST pay tax. There's nothing deep about it.

Hiding For Profit Ventures under charitable ventures such as churches, NGOs,etc to avoid paying tax and complying with other estates of the law is fraudulent.

Poverty is truly a bastard.

If every family is comfortable, well to do and reasonable enough to put their hands where their pocket will take them, we won't av all this problems.

They should just collect tax from the churches then. But where is the money going to? Same useless government?

Mtchewwww

None of my business abeg. If I have money, i'll give my offering and if I don't i'll stay. If they like they should buy one million private jets with the money, as long as God keeps blessing me, it's none of my business.

On judgement day, everybody will face his or her own problem. I just wished sins were in different grades and we had different level of hellfire.

Muslims will always protect their own but Christians will stupidly criticize theirs. Churches should pay taxes in a country where most government agencies are headed by muslims? This is another mistake we want to make to enrich those people, just like they have enriched themselves with southern oil well to the detriment of the southerners.

History of Obazee before this fight: he was a pastor in Rccg. He erred and was called to order by pastor Adeboye and he asked who the hell the man thought he was. Just a church leader, whilst he is a highly placed government official... that right there is the motive behind all these. he promised to deal with the man, and even when he dug up this old never implemented law, his superiors called him to order and even got the president to rule out that particular law. Obazee still went ahead, thereby disobeying not just his superior, the law of the land but also the president.
Obazee failed not just because he fought against God's church, but because he did it for the wrong reasons and was inspired by pride and vanity.
So he can leave the teachings of what's right and wrong about Nigerian pentecostal churches for those who really wants to fight for what's right!

Anonymous said...

The guy has some valid points. Just that some gullible brothers and sisters will start crying wolf.
People should go back and read about the missionaries. How can a church be building structures upon structures abandoning its members. Brothers and sisters their are lots of fraudstars in this church business today. Infact am so angry about the way pastors enrich themselves with their members sweat. I leave everything to God.

Eminado Onimisi said...

Oh, pastors are enriching themselves and not contributing to the society, what has your government contributed to you, from the local to the federal level? What has those Northern elites that own oil blocs in the south contributed to the south? The problem among Christians is envy, that is what has led them to be against one another to the pleasure of infidels.

What a confused man this Obaezi is. Why not make a policy (that is if there's been none) where schools owned by churches are taxed
And many ignorant catholics her with sentimental mind (i am catholic ) what number of years is assigned for a pope to lead the Catholic Church? Is it for twenty year or thirty years? Who's a pope to the Catholic body? A head and representative of what the Catholic canon stood for I guess? And another pope will be chosen when the reigning one is old? Or another one is chosen when the old pope dies? Same way the pope heads the Catholic Church and he is accountable to God for whatsoever he did while on earth so also is it that G.O Adeboye(and many other) is accountable for whatever it is before God. If we have many fake pastors parading themselves as messiah (in short 80% of pastors are not called by God. And those who call themselves are deceiving people) are we going to say there are no true men whom God as called and have not compromise their stance? It's like saying "most catholic reverend fathers are gay" it's say "most" and which is not true. There might some but does that make all catholic fathers gay?

Baba Adeboye does not own RCCG just as no pope owns the Catholic Church. Adeboye got the mantle from akindayomi and he will hand it over too. In short I heard he said "God told him the person who will take over from him is still out in the world that is such is not in the church yet.. the person is still enjoying himself with wine, women and weed(things christian count as sin) probably the person is a blog visitor here(may be @atheist)
It's true that many pastors are living a luxurious life or off their church finances. If there are such, why don't u leave them to God than come to SDK to criticize and in the process, we are helping God in judging them. Who are you to judge? Last thing I will never do is to criticize a Rev father, pastor or imam. They are humans like me. I only pray for them to have more grace not to fall

A lot of the insults you lots spill, would really please the devil. Truth be told, the Obaze made a good point. How can churches be so against regulations if they have nothing to hide? The church has become a den of thieves and very far from being Christ like.

@miss fee may God bless you for your comment. Most people who are giving opinions on this matter don't understand this issue started right form when this man was a pastor at rccg. He was a parish pastor. He was very unruly and arrogant. He spoke to the workers in his parish anyhow. People started writing petitions to the GO about his behaviour and the GO asked him to come and see him. Only for Mr Obazee to send word to the GO asking who he thinks he his and he should be the one to come to his own office to see him because he's a big man and blah blah blah. He really insulted the GO. That's when stories of him started springing up and then his arrogant and unruly behaviour led to his suspension where he promised to deal severely with PST Adeboye and the whole of rccg. He was really obsessed and annoyed that the GO has a lot if power. He then left rccg and moved to latter rain church. He then started getting close to PST Tunde Bakare to have access to the president. He was asked to hold off on implementing the law until it had bern reviewed but he went ahead after having a shady meeting with some people during the Christmas period. This his so called law he's implementing started in ex president goodluck Jonathan's regime. This same obazee was one of the resons for the termination of sanusi's appointment as CBN governor. His really a bad man. Most people don't understand. Those who were in the same parish with him understand. Even ICAN doesn't like him. Those who know know. Its just that most people don't get the story. Only God knows those who are truly serving him.

Wait. Because Muslims head certain government agencies Christians shouldn't pay taxes? You're reasoning with your anus! Olodo.
