Actor Odunlade Adekola Drunk On Fame And Losing His Credibility?

Ever wondered what happens in a celebrities head  when fame comes calling and their fame skyrockets?

One thing remains a fact....... losing one’s credibility along in lineof being famous is a big fail.

Nollywood has got many great actors but one who has continuously stood out over the course of his career is Yoruba actor, Odunlade Adekola.

Odunlade Adekola started his career back in 1996 but became active in 2006. The actor ruled the Yoruba sector to a core but he has since made his way into the English crowd where he seems loved and respected just as much.

While it cannot be contested that Odun is a great and phenomenal actor, the news and reports trailing him in recent times has left people wondering as to what exactly might be happening to the young man who supposedly has everyone in his corner.

Two years ago, he got his first English debut in the movie ‘Taxi Driver’ one would have thought that Odun would be proud of this step, the actor was reported to have been un-bothered about the state of the movie to the extent that he failed to promote it despite the fact that he was paid higher than his usual fee.

Truth is, Odun’s role could have been interpreted better by anyone...

His actions towards the movie could have been said to be a mistake that could not be avoided, Odun pulled yet another stunt with Funmi Holder’s movie ‘The Grudge’. He was said to have failed to turn up at the location while the movie was being shot and his hotel room left vacant because he failed to show up.

To add to it, Odun failed to show up at the premiere after stating that he was going to be there and once again failed to promote the movie on any of his social platform.

His recent action is his lack of commitment to a contract he had signed with the former MD of M-Net Africa, Biola Alabi on her recent movie. It was reported that Odun had failed to show up once again. These re-occurring acts from him has shown that Odun is beginning to thread a path of those who have taken their fame for granted.

Odun is starting to lose his credibility amongst his colleagues especially at a point where his career seems to be doing so well. It is important to ask if Odun has lost the touch of professionalism?
Is his fame starting to get the worst of him? Is this a deliberate action on his path? Broadway Africa decided to reach out to the Nollywood actor but all efforts to get to him through phone calls and text messages has been futile as he has refused to acknowledge any of them.

Somebody is jealous and pained. Odun is so successful in Yoruba movies he really doesn't need the English movies. He has his niche and very loyal watchers. Also Yoruba's are quite good at supporting their actors by buying their movies so these guys are doing better than the so called English actors. They get gifts and appreciation from fans. What I am saying is Odun cannot lose his fame where it matters.

Who has been paid to ruin Odunlade, obviously this is a paid advert for destruction of a career. Too bad I can't believe all avenue has been used to reach him before this medium. Odunlade please don't keep quiet someone jealous of your career is at work here.

Being focused at the peak of success is one f the most difficult things to do.
It takes discipline and diligence to remain on top. Funke Akindele is one actress I love so much who keeps doing this.
I hope this news is not true of this actor because I do enjoy his act.

Cheers..

If this is true then his village people are at work. They are sitting on his brain. Please God give them a reason to free his brain so his senses can come back. I pity him greatly cos when he falls nothing will help him. Person wey no fit speak even pidgin english.

The truth Odun is a good actor quite alright but I think he struggles to express himself in English, most of his recent roles in nollywood are done I pidgin,so he wouldn't want to disgrace himself attending red carpet.
By the time one them sue him for breach of contract,he will reset his 'kidney'(in Efe's voice).

"Odun"s role could have been interpreted better by anyone else", a very condescending statement by this hatchet writer.
So what stopped you from going to those better actors instead of going to Odunlade?
And posts on SDK blog about Yoruba actors seem to insinuate that they are inferior to the igbo actors, I notice the subtle insinuations regularly.
I prefer watching Yoruba movies cos they have better stories and content than the English Nigerian movies and I think a lot of people share this sentiment

I am sure this can't be true cause Funmi Holder herself in an interview said Odunlade is very professional about his job. Me still love Odunlade sha....

I agree. Yoruba movies rock. Though some senseless producers are trying to cheapen it with ridiculous and stupid movies these days. The English movies suck really bad. I even watched Mr and Mrs yesterday. What a badly acted movie. Nse overacted her part. Jeez.

Let's be objective, those are the kinds of roles he can get in English movies. I love me some Odunlade but have you heard him speak English? You go weep.
If this is true, Odunlade please amend your ways okay? You're too much of a great actor to let pride ruin it. Love your acting though, all day everyday!

a well constructed lies from the pit of hell just to bring him this cant work kolewek
@lily for your information he's already a producer should in case you aint aware and if this critic were right according to what is written here, common sense should have told them that since he aint fit for the role or cant speak well, how then do they expect him to promote their movies on social media? free him please and dont ruin his career

abeg who engrish epp?

Lion Tamer said...

One stupid jealous fellow is trying to get at odun, hence the reason he did not attach his name to this writeup. Odun is so famous now that he does not need to promote any movie. Once his face is on it, the movie will sell. I don't watch any movie that odun does not feature in it, except I get 2 people to reference such movie. So world people, leave odun for us. We like him like that. The write up reeks of concrete jealousy and beef. How come no promoter has complained about him if what is written here is the truth? Thunder fire anybody after odun. Yeah... Odun for president

Cynthia Iyede said...

Was he paid to promote the movie and failed to do so? I believe there is a better explanation for this.

My best nollywood act for now.

Yemi7up said...

Lilly you don't know Odunlade he is a big producer, he is not just a successful actor but a successful producer, a good sound track maker, and very good director. They are just scared of him making it in the English movies so the hate.

Yemi7up said...

I disagree with you.

MISS TRUTH said...

No matter what anybody says this Odun guy is a great actor, I am yet to watch him in english movies but when it comes to yoruba movies the guy is really good, he can act any role. Yes his english is poor but who cares. Odun has got talent .

Yemi7up said...

God bless you, they have better story and aside this they don't use and dump their old actors they are still relevant till date.

You are right, he needs to stop now. He doesn't need it.

If he promotes the movie too much, people will say he is over excited because its an English movie. Does he promote Yoruba movie too after its release? Why is the producer of the movie so pained? Is he the only actor in that movie.
Kikikiii thought people said he's irrelevant as a Yoruba man that he 'is' ? Why form familiarity na.... Abeg English movie producer are way too proud . You all should swerveeeee

Don't let us blame Odunlade. What if he's not comfortable amidst English actors', because of fluency?

Anonymous said...

Well if this is true ,it's normal and sad at the same time.I'm ibo but I love Yoruba movies esp the ones with him in them. He is very very good. I respect him a lot but this happens, fame happens,it happened to genny too,I remember on one location when Hank almost slapped Genevieve for being late and keeping everyone waiting. Now where is Genevieve in home videos, don't get me wrong ,she is doing well in other things but no longer a screen diva. Same happened with osuofia when he started requesting for crazy figures to appear in movies, thank God for the temporary ban that restructured their heads. So it happens ,its no big deal,he just needs to be called to order or advices better,it's not beef.Cos the truth is,he won't be James bond for that long. That's how it works.

Anonymous said...

Stupid write up. Serious beefing. Heavy PHD. Instead of the writer to applaud Odunlade for getting fluent in English. Can u see why success does not last in Africa? We always sing out the negative. But who God has blessed no one can curse.

Anonymous said...

Abeg free Odunlade

Anonymous said...

I think dis is pure jealousy cos odun is an excellent actor. You paid him to act not to promote. Please leave my odunlade alone ooo.He is not fluent in English, so what do you want him to say on the red carpet.
