The Mind Blowing Story Of Chioma The Tailor -MUST READ

This is the story of Chioma and this post is FREE to support her Struggle...
Her story will inspire and humble you...
Never ever look down on anyone....or their Hustle....

''My name is Chioma, When I started my fashion business, I didn't even have a machine, I would go to a friend's shop to borrow hers.

I would be in that shop sometimes until midnight, only me, the machine, lontor lamp or shakabula (kerosene lamp) and the material I was working on. I would do all that wahala and still sell the dress for 1500 naira or 'dash' it out, it used to pain ooooooo, but the dream was bigger than the pain.

Some of the people I dashed cloth would forget me and not say a word until they eventually wore the dress and when people started making nice comments, they'd refer them to me.
That was how I started building my customer base.

From collecting 500 naira to sew trousers/skirts and 1000 naira to sew dresses/jumpsuits, I bought my first sewing machine. That day was one of the happiest days of my life.

I'd carry money I was supposed to use to buy food and do fine hair, I'd use it to buy materials to sew. I would imagine new styles and draw it, I would try to recreate it in my sewing. I would make big mistakes. If I bought 24 yards of material, I would make horrible mistakes with 18 yards before I finally got it right; yet I refused to give up.

The dream was bigger than the mistakes.

At some point, I decided to work for someone. I'd work in the daytime and sew on my own far into the night, I'd fall asleep on my machine, I'd go to work the next day with back pain, but I'd still have to stay focused, eventually, I quit and went back to my sewing. The dream was bigger than remaining an employee.
One borrowed machine, many failures and many mistakes later, here I am, I'm an employer of labour and I'm opening a store in two weeks.

I teamed up with the amazing photographer Ayo Alasi and talented makeup artist bv makeovers to create the first quarter of my 2017 lookbook.

The models are my three pretty friends; Baptista Ime-James, Faith Kings and Quita Eva Reeves(the mother of my little model, Chantel). The jeans-like wears are actually made from some stretchy materials I got during one of my fabric-hunting missions in Eko Idumota''.

I'm @irinbydivine on instagram.
