Fuel Subsidy Scam -Judge Sends Rowaye Jibril To 10 Years In Jail

An Ikeja Division of the Lagos High Court has convicted Rowaye Jubril and his company, Brila Energy Ltd, on 13 counts of fuel subsidy fraud.

Justice Lateefa Okunnu sentenced Mr. Jibril to 10 years in prison, and made an order of restitution for his company to refund N963.7 million to the Nigerian government.

The defendants were first arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in November 2012.

The conviction comes weeks after the judge convicted Walter Wagbatsoma, Adaoha Ugo-Ngadi, and their company, Ontario Oil and Gas, for fuel subsidy fraud.

Indirectly building and rehabilitating the prisons. More high profile prisoners will change the dilapidated prisons.

How many years do you think he deserved? 2? Perhaps 5? or a slap on the wrist and a go and sin no more preaching?

Another person sentenced and what benefit is it to the Country? What happened to the supposed billions that EFCC recovered in the past couple of years since Buhari has been elected? Where did the money go because I have not heard of any changes to the infrastructures. Funniest thing is that the EFCC chairman is more corrupt than all these people put together. The hard truth here is that corruption can never be fully eradicated anywhere in the world. The country is so hell bent on punishing people that the leaders have forgotten what is truly important- adopting a good approach to Country's Corporate Governance for starters. Most westernised companies in Nigeria have never paid tax, that's more than trillion of naira lost each year. There is so much wealth in Nigeria, the country has the capability of being one of best, but if the citizens keep electing old and uneducated people, Nigeria has a slim to zero chance of fulfilling its potentials. If Buhari really wants to make changes, he can start from there. While he's busy traveling out of the country, the citizens of Nigeria are the ones suffering. Exchange rates are terrible, a lot of international students had to go back to Nigeria because their parents could no longer afford the fees; health care is a disgrace; people in the country are barely surviving and what about the job sector? I heard some graduates get paid 19,000 naira per month, that's about £48 here for God's sake. The education system? I know of people in Nigeria who spent 5 years on a 2 year course because of the so called constant striking. He really needs to set his priorities straight before he turns Nigeria into the new Zimbabwe!

We need scape goats to reset people's brains.
Crime would be reduced when people start going to prison for offenses they committed. Good for them👍
