Word For Today -Sunday Is Coming!

Today we look at the captivating story of a God who fell In love with man.

Mark 15:1-2
1)Immediately, in the morning, the Chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council; and they bound Jesus, led Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate.
2)Then Pilate asked Him, "Are you the King of the Jews?
He answered and said to him, "It is as you say."

I have heard a chunk of Easter messages over the years. Every year, the sermon preacher tries to navigate through this known story with intelligence cleverness and with a unique way of articulation.

In the course of time, as i teach and counsel people, I have realised that the most challenging aspect of preaching, teaching or even 'public speaking' is telling your spectators, audience or listeners what they feel they already know.

The oxymoron about festive messages are; They can be easy and difficult to preach! The easiness rests in the fact that since it is a known story, the audience can flow without much struggle, whereas the difficulty lies in the fact that it is possible to slip from a listening mode to one which the words float by, and because it is a known story, in your subconscious, you might just feel, I have heard this before!

Today we look at the captivating story of a God who fell In love with man. The celestial touching the terrestial. A powerful love story between Holiness and Humanity! Think about this; How could a God who is so faultless, so pure without blemish love a man filled with so much sin like you and I? Man fell into sin where God cannot live and God lives in Holiness where man cannot live.

If Two different entities will fall in love despite the odds, where then will they set aside as the meeting point for such tryst? It's been said that a bird and a fish can fall in love, but where will they live?

God knew all of these and and as Master strategist, He fixed it through The life of a certain man, who lived on this side of eternity two thousand and something years ago. A man who went through hell's kitchen to ensure a bright future for ANYONE that believes!

This aforementioned man was not ignorant of the cup in which He was going to drink, He was not ignorant of the pain He was going to feel or face, because nearly six thousand years ago, it was foretold that He was going to come! Several other prophets foretold of His coming so He knew vividly well what lay ahead during His earthly ministry, yet He CHOSE to come!

This is the predicament that led the beloved Son of God named Jesus to the cross. In Genesis, crisis emerged when man sinned and if nothing was done, we were headed for doom! And sometimes you may not understand this if you leave God in the bullocks of heaven without knowing the intensity of God's passion towards man. The issue is that we are not making efforts to know God more, we have relegated the idea of knowing God to be the duty of the cleric, Bishop, or Pastor.

Have you ever loved someone who did not love you back? Have you ever been in a relationship with someone who always acts nice only when he or she needs something from you? That's the kind of relationship some of us have with God.

The gravity of pain Jesus went through shows the depth of God's passion for us. This is because He wouldn't allow His only begotten to go through all of that if He did not love us that much.

The book of Isaiah said there was no beauty about Him that we should desire Him. History says they beat Him with a cat of nine tails so that when they whipped Him, it stretched to other parts of His body. A weaker person would have probably died on the whipping post and if He had died on the whipping post, then He wouldn't have redeemed man from the curse of the law and from sin and death.

Friend, what ever you are going through, always bare in mind that it is momentary, IT CAME TO PASS(2Cor. 4:17). Jesus knew the agony associated with the cross, but He did not back out. He knew it was a three day situation and most importantly, He understood the positive impact it will bring in our lives.

You may be on a Friday period in your life, but hang in, Sunday is coming. The chief priests, elders and scribes connived and plunged Jesus into His Friday moment, but they did not know that Sunday was coming. Financial difficulty or Health crisis may have kept you in a Friday tunnel, but don't remain static, keep moving, you will soon see the light that comes on a Sunday morning.

Happy Easter to you!
