Alhaji Bello Dan – Mubaffa, Sarkin Fulani and the leader of the market raised the alarm while addressing newsmen on the implications of the demolition.
According to him, “if state government, led by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode fails to intervene immediately, it could lead to red-meat scarcity and epidemic in many parts of the state as a result of water scarcity and the open defecation near the slaughter’ s lab at the abattoir .
He explained that there is acute water shortage at the Oko–Oba Abattoir as residents and traders now rely on water vendors for their use and also to take care of over 20,000 cows which are daily brought into the market.

ReplyDeleteStella, this man is soewing trash. I live in the area and I tell you he is just trying to make a case for his fellow hausas at the detriment of the rest of us. These abokis actually built shanties and kiosks along the railway line at Fagba, on tarred roads! Worse off, going out in the morning or coming back at night, its always impossible to make use of that road. One can spend 40 minutes on the same spot simply because these abokis want to offload cows, dont forget that this is a residential area not abbatoir, abbattoir is on the other side of the road but they will never go there! I think there are some rich hausas around this Fagba that made the abokis bringing cow feel safe to park and offload cows on a major road. Cow feed all over the place! Disgusting! Not up to two weeks after the govt demolished the shanties I can categorically tell you they have put the structures back again, this is the second demolishing and rebuilding that I have witnessed in the last 6 months, they keep coming back! Imagine rushing to Apapa from Fagba as early as 6 and getting stuck at this point for countless minutes or returning from work and having to spend nore than 30 minutes at this point when it should take you less than 5 minutes to get home? If they threaten us with meat scarcity they should stop bringing cow to lagos they can eat it all in the North all we want is sanity!!!
