Stars Of The Wedding Party Sequel Head To Dubai For Shoot

The rumours that have been swirling around for months have finally been confirmed – Nigeria’s highest-grossing film, The Wedding Party, will be shooting scenes for a sequel in Dubai.

Stars of the hit film began arriving in the emirate on May 11 for a two-week schedule.

For hundreds of thousands of fans, the news is a dream come true, as they anxiously await the next adventure. And, with the recent engagement of Banky W and Adesua Etomi, who got married as Dozie and Dunni in the original film, the anticipation has reached fever pitch on social media.

The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai brings us up to date with the newly-married couple who are now expecting a baby. Is reformed bachelor Dozie ready for this?

Felix and Obianuju are still working on their relationship – but has he given up ‘Small Chops’ for good?

Everyone’s favourite character, ‘Tin-Tin’, is up to her usual hilarious antics, while being indulged by her beloved ‘Bam-Bam’. Will crazy best man Sola succeed in getting close to the feisty Yemisi and does Nonso go all the way with Deardre, after that surprise kiss at the end of the last movie.

And, of course, there is another wedding. Who will it be this time and why are they all in Dubai? The fun and intrigue play out against the backdrop of Dubai’s most jaw-dropping locations and the characters get to sample the Nigerian visitor’s favourite pastime – shopping. Even for movie fans who have visited before, it promises to be a revelation of Dubai’s best attractions and most elegant hotels, including Atlantis, Armani, Palazzo Versace and the Ghaya Grand.

The film is also supported by Diageo and its premium brands. Mo Abudu, Executive Producer for EbonyLife Films, is delighted to be in Dubai for the shoot.

“Ever since Dubai Tourism partnered with us on the Grand Premiere of The Wedding Party, it’s been my dream to bring the sequel here. We weren’t sure if it was going to be possible, but the amazing success of the movie made it more likely and Dubai Tourism came through for us, along with Tour Brokers International and Wontra Travel.

With a great script by Naz Onuzo, an experienced director, Niyi Akinmolayan, the original cast and the beautiful sights and sounds of Dubai, we think we may have a bigger blockbuster on our hands.” In an all-out attempt to broaden the appeal of this much-anticipated sequel, the producers, The ELFIKE Collective, have added a number of popular Nollywood stars and personalities, including Patience Ozokwo aka Mama G, Chigul, Seyi Law and Elenu, and international cast members.

With scenes shot in Lagos, London and Dubai, the film promises to be a visual feast. The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai will wrap in late May and go into post-production in time for film festival season.

The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai will have its Lagos premiere on December 10, with cinema release in time for the Christmas holidays.

You mean all this fake love on social media and telling you all the fake details about their relationship. Abeg get a life and leave them to express their love the way they want. E dey pepper you cause you don't have enough information to gossip about. Abeg get a life.

    7. Kunle the jigalo? Not every girl is as stupid as you... She knows what's best for her a matured man ready to get married, who can at least provide food on her table not that jigalo brokky

    8. Not hating or anything but I agree to an extent with anon 12:48. I followed some of her threads with Kunle although it wasn't obvious that they dated. Adesua was very relaxed around Kunle they made good friends and goofed a lot. With Bank she's grown, she's a woman and more sensual whether for show or not. Sometimes relationships/marriage are not always about chemistry two of them know wetin them feel for each other. So you can't say there's no love with Banky, she seemed tensed during the intro but it's normal too much going on.

    1. It's not boring..
Very funny especially the parents of the bride and groom. Like you know where am igbo boy is marrying a Yoruba girl in real life where the parents aren't on the same page because of tribe difference and what not. And then one of the parent is the sophisticated one and the other is not. You know how that combo works?

    2. I don't think it was Chikito that said the film is boring but Chike. My dear, it's not boring at all, kindly go and watch it

Story has it that Nonso and Deidre 'oyinbo pepper' want to get married but Deidre'so upper crust family are not happy so they settle for Dubai as their wedding destination. I want to see Mrs Onwuka's face when she is snubbed by Deidre's family because na she be the Master snub

  21. Part 1 was very dry. Waste of resources. Kunle Afolayan can NEVER do such wack movie without content( not a competition pls). I always look forward to watching his movies.

Making a good movie isn't by using so many stars. I have seen better movies without much hype.I hope part 2 will make sense.

Thank God i didn't waste my money to watch part 1 in the cinema.Hubby disturbed me so much to go see the movie. He was really disappointed after watching just part of it.

Please i'm not a hater,I love Mo alot, but Wedding Party 1 was a No No for me.

  24. To be honest, the only interesting part of The Wedding Party1 was Sola Sobowale's role.
    The rest was predictable.
I felt they took scenes from the movie Jumping The Broom and two other African-American movies I can't currently remember. Very typical of Nigerian movies; lack of originality.
All I see is Chigul in Part 2. That babe is pretty amazing.
Looking forward to the comic relief she will provide (if they let her) and nothing else.
We all know how our movies here are overly hyped.
Give me a good American movie anytime, any day. And don't give me the patriotic bullshit line.
I love Yoruba movies as there are lots to learn.
Pipi Lee, where hath this and what series have you been watching?
Orange is the new black, please hurry, goddamnit!
    Ok bye.
