Arewa Youths Call For Peace Meeting After Ultimatum Given To The Igbos To Quit The North

A coalition of Northern Youth groups tagged, “The Kaduna Declaration”, which gave all Igbos residing in any part of North three months to relocate to their places of origin, has reversed the threat.

Recall that the group had also directed northerners residing in the East to within three months relocate back to the North.

The spokesman of the group, AbdulAziz Suleiman while briefing newsmen in Kaduna had earlier said, “All northern civil society and pressure groups are by this declaration mandated to mobilize for sustained, coordinated campaigns at their respective State Government Houses, State Houses of Assembly, Local Government Council Secretariats and Traditional Palaces to mount pressure for steps to be taken to ensure enforcement of the directives contained herein.

“The North hereby openly calls on the authorities and other national and international stakeholders to acknowledge this declaration by taking steps to facilitate the final dissolution of this hopeless union that has never been convenient to any of the parties.

”From today, June 6, 2017, when this proclamation is signed, the North, a critical player in the Nigerian project, hereby declares that it will no longer be disposed to coexisting with the Igbos and shall take definite steps to end the partnership by pulling out of the current federal arrangement.”

But in a u-turn on Wednesday, Comrade Yerima Shettima, President, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, and Isaac Balami, Arewa Consultative Forum Congress’ President, appealed to Nigerians not to panic.

In a video footage obtained by DAILY POST, Balami said the Northern groups had observed how the issue was “being discussed globally.”

He said the groups will create a platform to discuss the outrage and condemnation trailing the eviction threat.

His words: “This is not the time for us to discuss separation. We need to come together. Arewa is know for peace.

“It is obvious that the initial approach was not the best. We need to work together as a nation

“I want to tell Nigerians living at home and in diaspora that there is hope. This nation is going no where.

“Shettima here wants to assure that everything that he has done was in good faith. This is one Nigeria and we are going nowhere.”

*Isnt this even worse then what Nnmadi Kanu did or same? They should be given same treatment...chikena!

  8. Kanu is definately worse because he still wants to break the nation up.
These ones reacted stupidly to Kanu's wahala. They have apologised and want to dialogue after being called to order.
Kanu on the other hand has not apologied and Is insistent on his agitation... He semsationalised his extreme greedy agenda which led to so much hate. Please igbos speak up and say Kanu does not speak for you. Let's have one great country. It would have been devastating if the arewa guys did not succumb to and obey the federal government. Forget your pride right now and apologise for wanting to break up Nigeria and let's build Nogeria together. There is too much at stake oh. Kanu and his rich sponsors have cushions abroad. It is you who have swear it out in Nigeria who will be left to bear the brunt. Let there be peace please

    1. Appology my foot.
The unrest they have caused in the past 2 days should not be swept under the carpet by just a mere appology.

Do u have any idea what there statements has caused us as a nation

Do u know how many international companies have cancelled foreign trips or businesses to Nigeria

Do u know how many international organization that now see nigeria as unstable and so will not come in to do business with us.

They both should be arrested and tried for causing public unrest with their statements in the country.

The can appologise to Nigerians behind bars.
      El-rufai must arrest this nitwitts

    2. So Kanu shutting down one part of the country is okay abi? Kanu is self imposed and spreading hate.. I really feel sorry for you. I hope these people don't snap.

  9. Nigeria is made up of three different ethnic groups with different religious belief, culture and character. The only way peace will reign is let everyone go. Since democracy is either hausa man become the president or Yoruba man. Igbos that are the pillar of Nigeria, they don't want us there.

Kitikpa lacha kwa Unu anya there. Ndi uchu.

    Give us Biafra... Simple

  10. Yes Stella. Same treatment should be giving to them. If it doesn't happen, then that's injustice. He should be arrested and jailed for threatening the peace of the nation. Dss better pick him up.

    ReplyDelete
  11. No Stella, you can't compare what they did to Kanu. Kanu had radio station he used to carry his propaganda war. he threaten the government of the day and was caught on videos and meetings he heard in America hotels with his members. He came into Nigeria with a different passport bearing someone's name. Some of his members arrested had guns. That alone is a big treason.

Now this guys up there can deny their threat or say someone else wrote it because it wasn't on record up until now that they had video. But the government need to arrest this kind of individuals faming the amber of hate among its citizens.

    1. I am telling you.. Kanu is dangerous and calculating. Thing is if he continues to push for Biafra, there is no way people will live in peace with igbos because they would be seen as traitors and would not be trusted at all. Educated igbos need to say no to Kanu whilst you still can

  18. FG take not there has never been a smoke without fire, igbos are being treated as an out-cast in country they call theirs, so tell me why they shouldn't demand for separation.

  19. My prayer is that God should give the vp the wisdom to resolve this sectional problems. I am always very scared when I think of what will happen if another war should break out. I know little minded people like Omotola thinks it is all about the federal government using its latest fighter jets to exterminate the igbos in the east. The question is this, what happens to the igbos scattered all over Nigeria? Do you think the will keep quiet? My fear is that they may become terrorists. You know igbos know how to take things to another level. Their own terrorism will not be compared to what book haram is doing. He who has ears , let him hear. The federal government needs to resolve these problems now, else all of us are doomed.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The yorubas cannot take 0.1 percent of the marginalization the igbos have taken. They are very cunning. They think is all about acquiring our properties again, Let me ask this question, when Nigeria got it independence from Britain, did the British confiscate their properties in UK? The answer is no. You guys should know that an average Igbo man will rather die than have anybody take away the property he acquired with his sweat. I will not be what it was during the last Biafran war. Let the govt address the marginalization before all of us are caught in the ranging fire.

    ReplyDelete

    1. You are 100% right about the cunning part. This is probably the 97th time I'm hearing this
