Finance Minister Adeosun Says She Did Not Insult The Igbos

The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has denied claims that she insulted Igbos by saying she is happy they are becoming more irrelevant in Nigeria’s financial system.

She made the denial while reacting to an alleged tweet in her name saying, “I am happy that Igbos are gradually becoming insignificant in Nigeria financial system and before the end of 2023 Igbos will be insignificant in South east and Nigeria in general.”

Dismissing the claim, the Minister said she never tweeted anything of the sort, adding that the tweet was photoshopped onto her Twitter handle by some people looking to cause trouble for her.

Adeosun maintained that every part of country is important to Nigeria’s financial system.

In a terse statement on her Facebook wall, Adeosun wrote: “It has come to my attention that there’s a fake Twitter post circulating in my name, suggesting that I said something derogatory about Igbos. Kindly disregard it.

“It’s nothing but a shoddy attempt to photoshop a hateful statement onto my Twitter handle. I did not say or tweet any such thing.”

    1. I'm really surprised and dazed that people can believe that a Minister could utter such rubbish.

I'm appalled at the level of the gullibility of the average Nigerian even the so called literate ones, little wonder the thieves and rogues in government at all levels find it so easy to run rings around us making it impossible for Nigerians across tribes, ethnic groups and religious beliefs to unite and seize the Commonwealth of Nigeria from them.

Pray my fellow Nigerians what does the minister or Nigeria stand to gain from emasculating or disempowering a whole region renowned for its vibrancy in commerce across the length and breadth of Nigeria contributing immensely to the GDP and the internally generated revenue of the nation. Has she been able to proffer solution to the enormous economic challenges facing the nation that she will now begin to tweet about the downfall of the East economically?

I hereby appeal to all Nigerians that we be a little more discerning in the things we believe, write and share in the social media so that we might be able to effectively challenge and defeat the 'demons' and 'principalities' holding onto Nigeria Treasuries.

As far as I'm concerned, there are only two tribes and ethnic groups in Nigeria, the oppressed and the oppressor. There are only two religious groups in Nigeria, the poor and the rich, anything else is just a smokescreen that the ruling class is confusing Nigerians with.

      Thanks for your patience.

    2. For those asking how the hate message was Photoshop, here is how:

      * Take a shapshot of any of her tweets.
      * Erase the tweet with any photo editing app, leaving the handle alone.
      * type whatever you want in it with a similar tweeter font, save and share all over social media.

A smart person can easily see that it was photoshopped but I'm quite surprise and saddened by many comment I've read here. If I was the minister, I wouldn't even honour replying to it.

  2. So someone made a tweet and photo shopped it Into her own twitter handle? Wow. Just wow. How lame is this excuse. It's better you claim your account was hacked than that senseless response up there..

You will think tribalism ends here but then that's not the truth.

But one thing is sure, even in 3023, we will never be insignificant in the financial system. We might not be in the corridors of power but we will never be insignificant.. 🚶 🚶 🚶

    1. While I'm not holding briefs for her, I don't think she'll ever make such comment on a public platform knowing she's in the spotlight, nah!
I know everywhere is tense but let's not forget those who capitalise on situations to cause mischief.

    2. Calm down Fab mum. When I saw the twit I knew it wasn't her. A lot of people are out there to cause problems for us.

    3. Fab mum, you should know better.

    4. Well I guess you are right. Even though her explanation doesn't really sit well. Like how does someone photoshop a tweet to another handle? Not like it was hacked which is believable. But then like you both said, she wouldn't do that since she's in the spot light and alot of people are every where throwing tantrums looking for unnecessary war.

    5. @fabbie they do it everytime. Even when kim came to naija they faked a tweet about her insulting us to Scott disick. When Nigerians went for her on Twitter she had to clarify that it wasn't from her handle. I think tribalist bigots are just looking for a way to start a war in Nigeria.

    6. Fab mum, it's called photoshop and at times CorelDraw. Very very easy to do. And common. I'm surprised everyone is clueless her.

If you are ignorant about something, say so not immediately jumping blindly in condemnation.

That's why this country is stagnant ,like the dark Ages in 2017.

    7. Fab mum, if you read wide and not just gossip blogs you would know its easy and often happens. Then again, from your rants you do sound gullible.

  4. We believe you. Mischief makers are at it again.

Whether they like it or not Nigeria will remain one country. The only reason why the agitation for biafra is being shut down is because the country does not want the Niger Delta and South South to get the opportunity or idea to seek their own independence. I laughed when I saw the map of biafra. They included oil rich portions of the south south. Do they think those in the south south will leave nigeria to go and continue feeding another entity called the south east? We should all just remain together and learn to respect our differences and elect sensible people into power irrespective of their tribe or religion.

My friend in the south East said the only reason why she agreed to the sit at home order was because she did not want to be labeled an efulefu. Lots of people were intimidated into staying at home because they did not want to be ostracised and intimidated. All the intelligent, enlightened and well to do Igbos I know are so unconcerned about the movement. They have financial interests scattered all around the country and the old people I know have felt the impact of war so are against it.

Anyone who wants to bash me should feel free. All sticks and stones.

    2. I laughed harder!! Yeye map. Who wan join them? Let my grandad wake up from the grave to tell you how they ran to surrender to Nigeria through bush tracks when it was evident that the new country just came to oppress And kill chiefs to inherit what they didn't plant. I don't like joining tribal issues/discussions cos i make friends from all tribes and i belive a persons personality is in their individuality, not to be judged by tribe. But that shitty map cant stand. The annoying part is they haven't discussed with south-South to find out if we are interested in joining. 😂 they just carved the map on assumption. Ah!! I laugh in ejagham. That alone is arrogance to me. We will just disperse like some tiny countries Europe. Thankfully we have the resources to stand alone.

    5. Miss Kenefo or whatever you call yourself, whoever made the map is on his own, because we only have five Igbo states as Biafra. Feed Igbos you said, has Igbos ever been fed by Niger delta oil? Please go to many areas in the East you will know that most developments were made by self efforts. If you want to know who you are feeding go to the North and politicians foreign accounts and stop thinking you can feed Igbos please. Mind you, we have oil in Imo and Abia, oil rich at that. Okay? So stop panicking, we are equal to every task. It's a boast!

    1. Absolutely true.

She might make it behind closed doors but certainly not using her official handle to do so.

It would really take a daft person eaten up by tribal sentiments to believe this.

And yeah, for ignorant folks, it's pretty easy to do that Twitter super imposing thing.

Anonymous 20:01, thank God for me too!

Valerie, you fall hand, true. How do you guys think like this?? I'm shocked o. Some of my best male and female friends have been Igbo, but they're so decent, of all our jokes and teaisng we never had tribal issues. So I keep wondering where all these ignorant twats crawled out from!

I've said it before I'll say it again, the biggest problem this country has is unity, not poverty.

      Delete
    3. @anonymous gangster, are you sure poverty doesn't cause the disunity? Because I'm yet to see rich people that are tribalistic really.
May be I am yet to meet one. The day Nigerians come together and put hate aside and unite, that will be the day we will turn things around in this country first by choosing a leader not because of where he is from but what he is capable of doing.

      Delete
    4. 😂😂😂😂😂 so the new boasting line is that "my tribe pays the highest kidnap ransom" how dumb....

No wonder that woman with her skin like croaker fish said Bro Evans can't kidnap me because I can't pay 😂😂😂😂

"The day Nigerians come together and put hate aside and unite, that will be the day we will turn things around in this country first by choosing a leader not because of where he is from but what he is capable of doing."

      So you see, unity!
