    3. I pray the yam sprout before it reaches destination so they can return or sell at loss.

Na so dem de start...small time, middlemen will hijack the trade and make yam scarce for the common man on the street of Nigeria.
They should leave our food crop alone. Make dem go and focus on mineral resources and stop the Chinese from illegal and dubious trading and export or our resources..

    4. Atheist your head is correct. Americans will turn it into poundo yam and export it back to us at a higher price and we'll still buy. Why dont we turn the yams into finished product and export it? Instead of exporting the raw products like that. Same mistake we made when we started exporting crude oil and importing fuel, diesel and kerosene.

  6. No wonder yam is now damn expensive, it's only the rich that can afford it now, something that used to be everyman food. God have mercy

  7. Do we even have enough to eat ? Not to talk of exporting. First thing first place

    ReplyDelete
  8. We Nigerians cant afford to buy here to feed and our minister is exporting the yam to deprive us more of a staple food that most Nigerian homes eat.

Is there a curse on this APC govt because i dont understand why they are bent on making us poorer than we were before they came into govt.😭😭😭😭😭

  9. The land mass of Kwara state is bigger than the south east. In effect Kwara state is bigger than Biafra. My comment is not meant to insult anyone. I got to know this today while watching Channels TV. Good luck to our brothers and sisters who believe in the succession movement of the leader of Ipob, may your wish come true.

    1. A lot of igbos do food exportation. I know someone that exports dried leaves like ugu, , bitter leaf, utazi leaf and oziza
And the person is raking in money.
Another person I know exports dried grounded coco yam for making soups

    2. That's nice, my point is that it us nothing new. Those shouting about the price of yam in the market are just speculating. We Nigerians don't just like good things.

  13. Most of the African foods Nigerians living abroad including Stella dimoko buys is mostly from Ghana. We are always too in a hurry to laugh and condemn everything. The yams were exported yesterday, so it is not the reason for the high cost of yam. Our greed, high cost of transportation, market leaders and their goons are the reason. In two- three weeks new yam will be out and it will be cheaper to buy yam.

Yam exportation is private sector driven. Government only encouraged the platform in the quest to get more foreign exchange

Moreover more than 35% of the food harvested in our federation is wasted every year due to the absence of storage. Exportation will encourage farmers to produce more to earn more from their sweat

I encourage those who have access to land to make effort to benefit from this instead of crying on the net

    God bless us all

    1. Lucile Nigerians export food everyday, our brothers and sisters have been doing this for decades. The only difference is government is trying to encourage more export because of dwindling foreign exchange from the sale of crude oil.

  15. Stella dead on arrival? please stop that. We are shouting for them to diversify and now they are talking agriculture we are still complaining? No be Agriculture we all want them to look into? Private investors are making a lot of money from exporting agricultural produce so what's stopping us as a country from doing same? This will even make people to start investing more in Agriculture. let's just keep praying it works out

  16. And for those saying yam is now expensive that is because the yam we have now is "dry yam" and it has always been more expensive compared to new yam;for whatever reason, it's not a new thing, wetyn concern export with it?

    1. Don't mind us... That's how people shout as if food produce are usually seasonal and when it not in season,it's costlier. ..every may-june tomatoes bcos scarce. ..June, Tatashe takes its turn,plantain/yam becomes scarce BTW may and September... that's d norm...they become surplus again after harvest.we just like drama.

  17. I wonder why pple are complaining og yams being expensive n not enough to eat, pls go and plant ur own yams, it not rocket science., don't depend on the north to feed you.

  18. I ship yam to USA, I just dont know why Nigeria Govt. will want be involved because they have nothing to loose, they are meant to help private investors, and evrything involved in it. Its so hard to export out of Nigeria. Ghana govt is helping not shipping themselves

Stella it's not dead on arrival ooo, 1 small tiny yam is 10bucks, so of govt start exporting,it will crash the price of african foods here and then people get to eat yam w/o fear of cost!!!
