Northern Group Allegedly Orders Igbos Out Of Region

Prominent northern youth groups on Tuesday, gave the Igbos up till October 1 this year to leave the northern region.

The order was contained in a statement issued after a meeting in Kaduna state.

They asked the Igbo residing in the region to “start making plans to leave.”

Their order was premised on the shut-down of major towns in south-eastern part of the country on May 30, by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its sponsors.

The northern youths organisations, which had their leaders in attendance, include Arewa citizens action for change, Arewa youth consultative forum, Arewa youth development foundation, Arewa students forum and Northern emancipation network on the Igbo persistence for recession among others.

Abdulazeez Suleiman, one of the leaders, who read the statement on behalf of others said the region was “tired of the marriage”, hence the need for restructuring.

He also said the region was calling for steps to facilitate the final dissolution of this “hopeless union” that has never been convenient to any of the parties.

“The persistence for the actualisation of Biafra by the unruly Igbo of south-eastern Nigeria has lately assumed another alarming twist which involved the forceful lockdown of activities and denial of other people’s right to free movement in the south-east by the rebel Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its overt and covert sponsors,” the statement read.

“This latest action and similar confrontational conducts which amount to a brutal encroachment on the rights of those termed as non-indigenous people residing and doing lawful businesses in those areas illegally demarcated and defined as Biafra by the Igbo, are downright unacceptable and shall no longer be tolerated.

“As a first step, since the Igbo have clearly abused the unreciprocated hospitality that gave them unrestricted access to, and ownership of landed property all over the north, our first major move shall be to reclaim, assume and assert sole ownership and control of these landed resources currently owned, rented or in any way enjoyed by the ingrate Igbo in any part of northern Nigeria.

“Consequently, officials of the signatory groups to this declaration, are already mandated to commence immediate inventory of all properties, spaces or activity in the north currently occupied by the Igbo for forfeiture at the expiration of the ultimatum contained in this declaration.

“With the effective date of this declaration, which is today, Tuesday, June 06, 2017, all Igbos currently residing in any part of Northern Nigeria are hereby served notice to relocate within three months and all northerners residing in the east are advised likewise.

“From that date, effective, peaceful and safe mop-up of all the remnants of the stubborn Igbo that neglect to heed this quit notice shall commence to finally eject them from every part of the north.

“And finally, all authorities, individuals or groups are hereby advised against attempting to undermine this declaration by insisting on this union with the Igbo who have thus far proved to be an unnecessary baggage carried too far and for too long.”

    4. Anon 12.04, Northerners can react to anything, or noise as you call it, coming from Igbo associated organisations. However it is the duty of FGN to react, just like the reacted to Kanu, and have reacted to MASSOB in the past. If they don't, then they are only justifying what IPOB and MASSOB have been saying all along. Your reasoning is woefully flawed. No suprise there.

Oya, Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo you are now Biafra! You have X amount of time to organise your team to negatiote the separation. We will try our best to make sure your citizens are secure but we can't guarantee anything". Now tell me, why is that so difficult organise? Igbos who don't want to go to Biafra will have to bear the brunt of anything; who said that life is fair? Properties might be looted, burnt and lives and fortunes lost, but how is that any different from what the average Igbo man has been experiencing all over Nigeria since the 1960s. At least this time it will be worth something because we will be getting our own country were we will either suffer or enjoy together.

You Yorubas have been praying for an opportunity like this. Igbos are the only real threat you guys have in Nigeria and you'll jump on any opportunity for a repeat of 1966 to check the Igbos. All we here everyday when anything happens is "go back to the village", "Igbo this", "Igbo that". Constant threats about what might happen to Igbos outside Igbo land if we don't do this or that. Instead of them to focus on how they can meet up with the developmental strides other regions have made, it's flaming embers of discord they are gearing up for.
Unfortunately, I wonder what structures the igbos clamouring for Biafra have put in place to accommodate those who would return home if God forbid they declare.

If they both insist on this their madness, please leave the Niger Delta region out of your tussle. For avoidance of doubt, the Niger Delta region is made up of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Rivers states. Hausas get your Arewa country and the Igbos enjoy your Biafra. If the Yorubas want Oduduwa country too, better for us all. Nobody should drag the Niger Delta region into their problems. We have enough of ours to deal with. Thanks

  33. But nothing like this happened Na. I am in Kaduna and just woke up this morning to this news every where on the internet. There was no meeting and there was no statement. This is just a lie from the pit of hell. I want the name of the youth leader published. One person cannot speak for the entire youth in Kaduna.

  34. I honestly think this whole thing is pointless, if the amount of time, energy and resources wasted in all these noise we're making everywhere is invested in the Nigerian economy then I don't think we'll be having a lot of problems at hand right now.
Ndi igbo kwenu oo.. For those of us shouting biafra anyhow, let's think back to the days of our grandfathers, when biafra was still in existence remember it's still we the igbo people that'll be loosing out, I never experienced war and believe me it's not something I pray to happen to anybody. In case you dunno go and read chimamanda's 'half of a yellow sun' to give you a clear picture or better still watch the movie then if you like what you see then carry on.
Nnamdi Kanu is agitating for what he believes is a good cause, but let's remember that if(God forbid) all igbos are forced to return back to the East, Mr kanu will not care about you and your family when hunger comes and if the heat becomes too much he'll relocate his family to safety outside Nigeria and Biafra and forget the thousands of people following him blindly as he's leading them to destruction. You cannot be shouting biafra from the north or west and expect to be living peacefully.
I'd say all we need right now is to come together as ONE NIGERIA and go on our knees, bow our heads and cry out in prayer to the almighty God to come to our aid, as it is now, Nigeria has enough problems to deal with already, our sick president, unemployment, poverty, people are dying because most of them can't deal with it anymore and we're here thinking of biafra and many unnecessary things.
Please let's wisen up, do the needful and pray for Nigeria bikonu... Say a prayer for Nigeria!

    1. Thank you..... Let them all know that Ignorance is not an excuse..... Nnamdi Kanu has a British passport.... If kassala bust, we all know where he'll be.... and I assure you it won't be anywhere near the Biafra his agitating for.... I'm Igbo but he shouldn't speak for..... I wasn't born dumb, I have my own voice..... Peolpe should ask questions about where he has been before all this noise.... Like I said Ignorance is not an excuse..... We should be wise....

  35. The northerian youths and leader only echo buhari threat (mark my word) as for me this threat is a welcome relief and a favourable response especially to the Niger delta people. . When we divide in this country and we definitely will, based on the this high level insolent and much more nonsensities , we will do so on the voting platform , that we will get there without violence is inevitable No matter the provocations from people who call themselves leaders .And so let me warn those northern who parade themselves in baseless arrogance (said Tam David West) that whatever you sow you reap and bountifully too.
