Two Chibok girls graduate from US high school

The determination of two Chibok schoolgirls who escaped from their Boko Haram abductors in 2014 to rebuild their lives is paying off.

Debbie and Grace, as they are simply called, graduated from a high school in Washington DC, the United States of America (USA) on Thursday after completing junior year (11th grade) and senior year (12th grade) at a prestigious private international school in the Washington metro area in America.

A U.S.-based human rights lawyer and the International Director of Education Must Continue Initiative, a Nigerian non-governmental organization involved in the care of the girls , Emmanuel Ogebe, confirmed the development in a statement yesterday.

Debbie and Grace were among the 57 girls who escaped from the terrorists soon after their mass April 2014 abduction at Government Girls State School,Chibok,Borno State.

They were, along with 10 others, subsequently sent abroad for the continuation of their education by the NGO which is run by victims of Boko Haram helping other victims to overcome the impact of the insurgency.

    1. I think you find it hard to believe poor girls from a borno village can actually change their lives around completely in a free country.. That's the thing ... They now have freedom of choice to excel not bound by that religion that dictates to women and sells them off to men by 13 or earlier. Any child can make it in life given the right opportunities Stella

And oh, the north has a lot, when I say a lot, I mean a lot of Christains who are just northerners. And oh, not all northerners are hausa. They have their own languages.

    1. Why so daft?? So you think everyone from maiduguri is a Muslim?
Stella, your blog visitors lack exposure. And very ignorant with out the intent to learn. But always quick to throw tantrums like market women hustling for patronage..

Yes, chibok is a Christian dominated area. Their are more of Christains than Muslims there.
Maiduguri as a whole also have a lot of Christains there..

And oh, not every northerners is a Muslim. There are a lot of Christain in the north. I'm sure they make up over 48%.
And lastly, not all northerners are hausa.
      Not all hausas are Muslims

  7. Stella... I am so disappointed by your comment, you can find out by yourself if you don't believe by taking a trip to Chibok, rather you sit behind you system and write shits... i was in borno last year n i was surprised to see several foreigners there to help with humanitarian aid yet Nigerian like sit at home do nothing but write shit on their blog. Seriously u r one of the reasons Nigeria is not moving forward, what you said is a slap to everybody that lost a love one by the insurgent

  8. Are these girls really one of those that escped after abduction by Boko H? Or there was some magu magu and they plucked in some girls whose parents had some little clout.

  9. I hope they were not taught in Hausa language since most of the girls if not all can't speak English.
I have nothing to say about chibok girls saga but I know that the Christians there are suffering a lot. They are being faced with temptations to change their faith

Stella i believe the abduction took place but they did not kidnap girls writing waec. These women were picked randomly. Only dimwits will believe their story of school girls writing waec. They just wanted to discredit jonathan's govt back then and even now. Their chibok story is the greatest scam of all time. Girls that cannot speak english. Jeez i so hate this country sometimes. Your leaders keep feeding u people shit and you keep swallowing it.
