Whats wrong with having CS?

Greetings to you Stella of life and all the wonderful bvs. So I decided to send in my story because it was through this blog I learnt a lot about delivery and what to expect.

I took in just immediately after I got married and the first 3months was terrible, I could not eat my food and each time I perceive the aroma of my food I throw up, even when I drank water. It wasn't easy but I scaled through and the rest of the journey was good.

That fateful morning, I woke up and went to sit in front of the house, after some minutes I decided to sweep and that was when I felt d first contraction, I wanted to be sure so I monitored it before running inside to tell hubby who had already started his leave that period.

I said I would not want to go immediately to the hospital, so hubby assisted me in exercising in d parlor, till about 11am when I could not bear the pain anymore.

I got there and they started checking, doing d finger thing and all, I didn't even know it was membrane swap they did n the midwife said I should go n exercise. I started oh, with hubby assisting me, the pain was out of this world. I went in again after some hours to be checked and they said 2cm,oh Lord n I shouted 2cm since.......

Meanwhile another lady was in labor, when I see her I forget my own pain n start feeling for her(she was 9cm n could not dilate further) she had to go in for CS.

After 4hrs again they checked me n it was painful that I held the nurse's hand and told her to remove her finger, asked her how far and she said plus 2cm n I felt encouraged, before now I asked hubby to ask for epidural and they said they don't give as it will stop the contractions(I was shocked at this), I then told hubby that I wanted CS oh.

My kid sis was around n she immediately called my mum and the next thing my mum was shouting on the phone saying do I know what I am asking for? I told her if anything happens to me it will be on her head oh.

7pm, I was walking around n heard d nurse telling the doctor that I was not dilating as I was still at 2cm....i jumped into the conversation and said I thought you said plus 2cm, i suppose to be 4cm she just said I should relax, I started crying cos I was weak as I had been throwing up all day and could not eat.

Initially hubby signed the form for the CS to be done but after my mum's shouting I told him to hold on a bit, but knowing I was just 2cm weakened me, so the next check at 11pm doctor said my husband should come n sign the form again as my baby was not coming down at all, I didn't even argue cos deep within me I knew I had no strength to go further.

Hubby got suya and said I should try to eat a little which I did, I was prepared and taken to the theater.

Anasthesia was given and when they tore my stomach, the doctor had to tell someone to push my Tommy down, obviously my baby was not even ready to move. At a point my teeth were clenching n I was scared and trying to tell them how I was feeling and they said am doing well. I still vomited the suya I ate and didn't know when I slept off, only to wake up back in my ward.

Hubby was supportive, he stood by and experienced the whole CS process, my handsome prince is going 2 months by 24th of this month. Pics for your eyes only
P. S my mum who was shouting for CS became calm after seeing that the incision is quite small n how fast I healed, right now u can barely recognize where was torn.
Love you stella, kisses

*Lol @torn...please it is referred to as cut open...that sounds betters nah.

  3. Congrats poster.
It's just the pain involved during recovery and also CS is pretty expensive as well..I'm sure these are some of the constraints people have.
I had both my kids through CS though no fault or wish of mine. But I would still pick it over again than have to go through labor. Many scary stories I have heard.

  4. There's nothing wrong with Cs but apparently our mothers are still naive of it.I am expecting my second child in a few weeks too,and I still hear my mum pray and cast and bind every spirit of CS and in my mind I just Yimu and say what if that's the only option?

Congrats Madam.. May God bless the baby.

  8. Some women will lose their lives just because of some stupid mentality that cs is bad.one woman I know lost her baby all because she wanted vaginal birth by all means the doctors finally had to cut her after a very long labour and by then the child had died. She could have passed on too but for Gods intervention. Women be wise, what matters most is your health and that of your baby.

    1. Why all Nigerian hospitals do not monitor the baby's heart beat when the mother is in labour is putting. How much is a monitor? If they have it, they will be able to know when the baby is getting weak or is in distress and advice the parents to sign for emergency C section. May God save us.

  11. I hate pple dat oppose to CS wen it would have saved a life, a friend lost her baby cos d illiterate husband refuse to sign, last last a CS was performed cos fetal heartbeat beat stopped n no dilation, her father almost got d guy arrested, he took his daughter home n returned her brideprice via bank transfer, informed the guys people, they begged but the man was done with them, the girl remarried, has a kid n expecting another.

  16. I am surprised that you lot are so ignorant. CS should only be used as a last resort when the mother or child is in danger. The advantages of natural birth cannot be underestimated. First of all as the baby passes through the vaginal canal it is inoculated with its first healthy bacteria. Babies are born with sterile guts and require this passage to get the first bacteria they need. There are also many benefits for the mother as well. Educate yourselfs.

    3. Anon thats true but CS is still a life save. Other pros of vaginal delivery : The uterus contracts, the womb is not scared by any cut as in CS. Etc

  17. Don't know why Nigerians are so myopic.

I'll prefer cs than risking my life o
