  14. Annie's greatest achievement in life is being married to Tu face..and Nigerians being obsessed with marriage don't see anything wrong with that..d last thing a person like chimamda Ngozi Adichie will Eva mention in public is a hubby, some pple may not even know she is married sef cos her achievements as a woman always speaks for her..sadly but true,Nigerian women are myopic.. As for those of u that will come for me cos of what I have just said, don't even bother,I am a happily married woman..marriage shldnt be viewed as an achievement

    2. Everyone must not be like Chimamanda.
I have been married for 17mths but never publicly celebrate my husband. I love him so much, but I don't think he's my biggest achievement.
Nigerians need to stop teaching people how to live their lives, let her build a shrine and worship her husband if she so desires, we can't all be thesame.

    3. Lol. Dear, you have to understand that everyone's personality, mentality and perception of a thing is all different. While it is true that African women are obsessed with marriage, still doesn't make them myopic because marriage as a whole is valued in Africa. Chimamanda has lived in the states for (if am not mistaken) up to 10 years and more than, I tell you that there are factors that changed her mentality about marriage and men, that's why she can boldly fight for equal right for men and women meanwhile I bet you, you won't see an African woman who has not stepped out of the boundaries of African fighting for feminism all because there is a background which they come from and they understand that these set of people values the institution of marriage, men and children. And moreover, Chimamada is more of a career woman than of homely. Don't blame African women for valuing their men but biblically, it is meant to be like that...a woman is supposed to be under a man, and the man under Christ. Meanwhile, Marriage is not an achievement but family is all.

Hehehe, don't say Nigerian women are myopic biko, I am proudly a Nigerian Lady and I am not myopic...tanchu

    4. Thank you..
Judges everywhere, trying to make everyone fit into their own definition of what's right..

If it's her choice to worship her husband.. Let her be..

    5. Anonymous 19:30, sweetie, I respect your opinion but don't you think you are the one being myopic? It appears you are shortsighted and not open minded on this issue. You are analysing it from a particular angle as against other angles.

Saying marriage shouldn't be viewed as an achievement, is relative and not absolute. It's left for each lady to decide what she considers her achievements are. One of the best female cardiothoracic surgeons in America, who has more degrees than a thermometer, said her GREATEST achievement is being a wife and a mother. Curious, isn't it? But that's how she genuinely feels.

Of course, there are also ladies, such as yourself, who believe marriage isn't an achievement and ladies should endeavour to break the glass ceilings and excel in other aspects of their lives. But can we really classify your argument as the more superior one? Shouldn't each individual be the right person to determine what each considers an achievement?

Marriage is not for everyone but, trust me, if you are blessed to be married to the love of your life who loves you right back and makes you feel like the luckiest gal in the world, your marriage will seem like one of your greatest achievements, especially with the feverishly high percentage of divorce nowadays. Like the phenomenal Socrates said "by all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you'll become happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher." In the same vain, marrying a good man can make a grown woman gush about their love and flaunt him. You may think Tuface isn't a good man based on his reputation but he happens to be Annie's dream guy.

Live and let live, my love. Feel free to judge people by your standards but, please, don't be to quick to criticise their choices. So you don't flaunt your marriage? Good for you. So you admire Chimamanda for keeping mum about her marriage? Excellent! However, neither she nor you ‎are the yardstick in measuring the recommended mentality of the average Nigerian woman when it comes to marriage. To each, her own.

  20. @ Ronalda...well said!!! I wish could like ur comment a million times...achievement is relative indeed...some pple are career oriented while some are family oriented, some are money oriented while status oriented...pple have different callings in life...what is important is being excellent in ur own calling...my friend feels fulfilled with her bank balance in 7 figures and gets sad when it drops to 6 figures cos growing up there was never enough money...so today she is money-centred.

To each his own...don't talk down Annie cos she doesn't reason like Chimamanda...to each her own...u are not close to know if the Chimamanda is truly happy and feels fulfilled...there could just be a vacuum in her that haunts her n makes her miserable...never judge people superficially.

BTW, 2Baba is modesty personified...and he has my respect for that...he is really a nice guy but of course no one is perfect. I love the way Annie celebrates him, he is her hero for God's sake, let her be! if u see no reason to celebrate ur husband, no wahala, don't berate some one who does...nothing in life is absolute...relativity theory still holds sway!!!

    1. What exactly do you mean by some people are career oriented while others are family oriented?

There are career forward thinking woman who value their family as much as they value their career. The reason they break grounds at work is to support their family and make sure they are comfortable.

We need to stop classifying women. Most women who work are married too.

Just because you are a house wife does not make you family oriented, you could be home all day and absolutely hate it. Just because you don't flaunt your husband, it doesn't make you career oriented.

We tend to make career women out as feminist who don't support anything family where as they are the ones putting in time at work to support their family at home.

Let women breathe. Flaunt your husband please. Flaunt your job. Flaunt your intelligence. Flaunt the fact that you are a housewife (it's not an easy job too) , flaunt your single life. Do you as much as you want.

  21. What is wrong with a woman celebrating her husband bikonu, there are so many frustrated Aunty Gwegs on this blog. They look for every opportunity to criticise anybody who celebrates the marriage institution.

Marriage is a beautiful institution, thought it has it challenges, the good side of it far outweighs the negative side.

Most of this bitter ladies on this blog should focus on making themselves marriageable, being a good wife and mother.

Anne has not done anything wrong in celebrating her husband.
All the Angry women wey full this blog should get a life abeg
