ASUU Strike Allegedly Politically Motivated...

A House of Representatives member, Johnson Agbonayinma (Edo-PDP), says the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities‎ (ASUU) is politically motivated.

Agbonayinma told newsmen on Tuesday that it was meant to disrupt President Muhammadu Buhari’s return.

“I have great respect for the lecturers and those who have decided to be of help to humanity, I would advise the teachers to continue their good work and avoid politics.

“It is just that in Nigeria, teachers are not well respected, however, I have a problem with this strike which is nothing but political.

“There is a political undertone that is being played for ASUU to go on strike and the cabals are part of the problems we are facing, they do not want Nigerians to move forward.

“For God’s sake, how can Nigerian children spend seven to eight years trying to obtain first degrees as a result of the strike all the time?

There are feelers that President Buhari is coming back to Nigeria, they now decide with the cabals to instigate strike so that Nigeria will be in a chaotic position.

“I want to appeal to the leadership of ASUU to put Nigeria first, let’s think about our children. I believe in dialogue, I believe in peaceful resolution of crisis.

“This continuous strike every year will not solve the problem of this country,’’ he said.

  7. This man must be a retard. I haven't been paid my salary in full for over 18 months now and he says the strike is politically motivated? They didn't think of politics when they decided to be paying a fraction of lecturers' salaries in the name of short-falls. They didn't say it was politics when they withdrew funding for University Staff Schools. This is what we get when we have nyncompoops in the legislature. Imagine the rubbish he spewed.

  8. Most people go through school and teachers to become literate, refined and contributing members of their community. Yet, in Naija's case, as soon as they graduate most forget the teachers who molded, sacrificed and supported their mission? Why? What type of education are these youths even clamoring for given the dismal resources and infrastructures @ many of these places? UnaMumuNeverDo? How can Charly Boy at his age be out there fighting 4 real freedom from tyranny & underdevelopment when all a bunch of docile & cowardly Naija youths wish is to return to what? Which kain yeye education sef? Meanwhile, all the oga pikin dey school abroad where teachers are regularly paid. UnaMumuNeverDo? QED@atm
