Robery Suspect Says He Was Forced By Police To Admit To Crime

One Kingsley Ibe, who was arrested by the police in Niger State for alleged robbery, has denied the crime, saying he was being coerced by the police to make a confessional statement.

Northern City News learnt that the 25-year-old, who lives in Gwazuma, in the Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, was arrested by the police Special Anti-Robbery Squad on the allegation that he connived with other hoodlums to rob one Yusuf Isah of Gauraka, Sabo-Wuse council.

The police claimed that Ibe and his gang members carted away Gauraka’s properties including a 49-inch LG television, a 32-inch Panasonic television, four wrist watches, one Techno handset, one Samsung galaxy S3 handset, one Infinix Note 4 phone, jewelry, one Jingcheng motorcycle and N200,000 cash.

But Ibe vehemently denied being a robber, saying he would rather die than admit to a crime he did not commit, insisting that the police knew the real culprits but refused to go after them.

“I don’t know why police are keeping me here. I am not an armed robber and they cannot force me to be one. It is better I die for the offence I committed than to die for what I know nothing about.

“I am not a thief and cannot admit to what I knew nothing about. The motorcycle they accused me of stealing was not stolen by me, the police knew where it was coming from,” Ibe said.

He said it was because he had no one to speak for him that the police were plotting to implicate him.

But the police spokesperson in the state, Comfort Olawumi, said the suspect was sighted by the complainant’s sibling, Usman Ithado, with the stolen motorcycle, adding that he was given a chase before he was apprehended by police operatives.

She added that the police recovered the motorcycle from the suspect, noting that he would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.

  1. Hmmmm....tbough he might be guilty but i have heard people say this thing. I don't trust them one bit.

    1. It might be true, Nigerian police force suspect even innocent citizens to do a whole lots of things.

Your comment will be visible after approval

    2. The government should look more into this case.all I know it's that most persons accused of stealing are just innocent of the crime

  2. It's not impossible.

  3. I believe that man 100% Thats Nigerian police pattern protecting the main culprit, forcing an innocent man to accept a crime he didn't commit.

    1. I believe him too, na their way be that.. Swapping criminals of money bag for commoner.

  4. I am not surprised. Police can do anything except raise the dead. If they can raise dead people, then our own don finish

  5. Nigerian police can turn water to wine

  6. Olopa issue always weak me....... Everything is possible in Nigeria.

  7. I believe the man, Nigeria police can do no right! They always want to take kudos for arrest even if they are the main thief

  8. No one will understand this man's predicament until you become a victim of Police palaver.
I'm still calling out Nicholas Okolie and Ameh James 417746 (and several others) who fabricated evidence to indict us for impersonation on the 6/08/17 and extorted N38,000 from us for doing absolutely nothing. Alleging that our vehicle is similar to the one used by the hoodlums who desecrated the Church in Ozubulu community. This happened along Onitsha/Owerri/PH express way, as if they saw the hoodlums. Rubbish people.

  9. Police are useless set of people,i have been a victim of their maltreatment..someone that looked for my trouble nd I confronted her which almost ended with a Fight, went and reported the case to the police! Before we could say jack,we were already at the station..i cursed that girl and her miserable self..
