The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole has appealed to the leadership of the Joint Health Staff Union (JOHESU) to prevail on its members to shelve their planned strike.
The Minister made the appeal in a statement issued by Mrs Boade Akinola, Director Media and Public Relations of the ministry in Abuja.
Adewole said government has continued its negotiation with the union and hoped that issues in contention would be addressed through consensus.
The Minister further urged them to consider the interest of Nigerians who are the ultimate victims of the strike.
The Minister assured the JOHESU Leadership of the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to the wellbeing of all Nigerians, including the welfare of stakeholders in the health sector.
The Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Care Professionals, JOHESU, had on Wednesday said it would begin a nationwide strike on September 20.

ReplyDeleteI think it's not a laughable situation, but I laughed at the title of the strike. Alligator bite ke. LMAO. I support any action that will get the government to discharge their responsibilities as at when due. I'm still waiting for the strike I call the ultimate, where this country would be on lockdown to force the national Assembly to review downwards their salaries and allowances. I know I have a long wait, but I'm hopeful
ReplyDeleteIf the senators contributed half their salaries, at least, there just might be something to go round to these striking workers in different sectors. But that'll never happen. Not even from the 'Common Sense' man himself.
