Nigerian Universities Brouhaha -SSANU, NASU, NAAT Declare Indefinite Strike

All the major non-teaching staff unions of Nigerian public universities have resolved to embark on an indefinite strike from September 11.

The Joint Action Committee, JAC, of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU; Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, NASU; and the National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, announced the strike Today.

At a press conference in Abuja, the chairman of JAC who is also the President of SSANU, Samson Ugwoke, explained reasons for their decisions.
Mr. Ugwoke said the nationwide strike would be total and comprehensive.
“During the strike, there shall be no provision of services, no matter how skeletal. Concessions shall not be granted while all our members are to stay at home till further notice, unless as directed by JAC through their respective presidents,” he said.

  7. Barracudianusaurusunamon - Hi, Guys. It's me again. (:

Isn't this wickedness? A Five-year course would turn indefinite as they are not even sure when to call it off, these students are home already, why suffer them more? and for what, some compromise that hasn't been reached, Education is take oh-so lightly in this country, this is why students sleep in Embassies just because of Visa to study abroad, and reduce their study span. I have a cousin who has been home for months now, she will be devasted when she reads this, if she hasn't already, I pity her really, her final year is getting longer that planned.

Tch. Nigeria and its issues, so endangering and tiring. These idiots are doing absolutely nothing in reaching a compromise with the striking team in contention.

    Cheers.
