  3. It is not right because eyes shall be on them in the church. Begging beggars will flood their phones or disturb them with help me help me and also bad guys eyes will be on them too. It might also be to encourage others to give either way it is still wrong.

Anyway that church is wrong because not everyone likes his or her name to be mentioned

    1. Tithe is supposed to be for God and not to please the Pastors and congregation.
When you pay your tithes and you are applauded by your fellow men, what is the essence of paying the tithe

Tithe is a covenant between you and God.Pay your tithes in secret and your God who sees in secret will reward you.Personally I prefer giving to the needy quietly
cos some of these Pastors are far away from the truth.Follow what's in the Bible and save yourself from eternal damnation.
      My opinion.

  4. In my church, we give tithe anonymously with the mind set that it is between you and God. All you need to do is state it on the envelope that it's for TITHE. How do you people keep a register for this?

  5. My dear God forbids all theses nonsense they do in churches these days. If after 30 years of going to church I can not willingly pay my tithe and I'll use tithers card to make a commitment before giving my tithe I never ready be that. Whether church rule or not I don't do tithers card I'd rather go with what the Bible says about tithing. You'll start hearing them say obey them that have rule over you, if the church doctrine believes tithers should have cards follow suit...... My Bible is my only reference point. The Bible admonishes that we should work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. Tbt your pastor Will not be responsible for your actions or inactions because we all have been given free wills to make choices. If GOD did not impose His will on us who is your pastor to impose whatever on you? Then they will come to quote believe the prophets and you shall be established. In all, wisdom is profitable. Have the Spirit of discernment and follow the leading of the Spirit. You owe it to yourselves to know the truth.

  6. Hmmmm. Imagine announcing highest tither in church. How do they even know these people are highest tithers if they don't have envelopes with their names on it. Some Churches nowadays have become money making factory. That's why some young guys are venturing into pastoring now cos they see it as a very lucrative business.
    God will help us all.

It's wrong, there's no biblical backing to this.

But, I don't even believe this story. Nowadays, people say all sorts on social media just to elicit responses and gain popularity, especially on twitter.
If it's true, put the name of the church, at least that way, the pastor who you say isn't around can get to hear about it and correct the wrong practice.

    1. Princess, it is so true, I attended a church that the 'big tithers' where always ushered to sit at the front row of the church. I examined myself and asked 'what would Jesus do? And that was how I left that church, Abeg I cannot shout.

  14. Lol.
Churches these days have become an entertainment gathering.
    This one is quite funny.
    Lmao.
The called out high tithers will now be walking on air after service. Lol.
Absence of the Pastor is not an excuse, if he laid down proper rules, no one would dare it.

    1. I learnt some churches even have cards where they record the amount and month
you paid.So any Month you did not pay means you are
      owing.

  15. Learn how and where to pay your tithes folks:

I do like to enter the church in my city to pray during the day; especially on the days that I am off duty. Each time I entered the catholic church (I am not a catholic; I am without denomination), not only do I pray well without "harassment" but sometimes, I will be there for 2 hours and by the time I am about to leave, some of the people I met there are not in any way preparing to leave. I am usually challenged by these people. Several time, I had stopped by the "mega churches" (Redeemed for e.g.) to pray, they looked at me like I've come to steal, most of their parishes are under lock and key. is it only the orthodox churches that are "house of prayer"?
Really I have learnt to do house fellowships to learn the scriptures with other like minded Christians and have not gone or needed any of these churches in the last 5 years. I grow very well in the Lord and we do go online (social media)/prisons for evangelism. If you are a Christian who do not pray and fast and study your bible, very soon, every wind of doctrine will ferry you!
Again, why is every girl (especially fair ones) that go to these "mega churches" put on "deliverance for 21 days"? Did Christ or his disciples do that. One of the teenage girls on my street after being put through such "deliverance' was also "put in the family way". The worst is that she does not know the father of her child because multiple "deliverance ministers" had her. Thank God she got saved during her pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby boy. Or should I talk about the "Rev. Fathers" that browse the girls in their congregations.
For those of you who would "rattle" about tithing; I pay it very well to strangers (prisoners and street kids rehabilitation), widows, orphans, and some missionaries (who of course have no other means of livelihood); if you care to, you can read the scriptures; Deut. 14:28, 26:12, practiced in the NT; Acts 6:1-6, 1 Tim. 5:9, James 1:27. A lot of you will be surprised that I did not start my quotation from Malachi 3. the point is that "God's house has become as spiritual house (1 Pet. 2:5-9). By God's grace, I've taken many kids off the street, enabled widows begin small scale businesses, helped missionaries out of poverty etc. and I am not lacking in the blessings" from the Lord. I feel more fulfilled.

    2. That is good works u are doing, but that does not take the place of gathering together of the saints and the Bible commands that u pay ur tithe in the house of God. The tithe is for house of God .even though I don't support the issue of having card for it or recording and calling highest titheter.

    3. @Mamafifty:
1 Peter 2: 5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up A SPIRITUAL HOUSE, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

That building called "church' is not the house of God, he said that where two or more are gathered in his name, he is there in their midst.

    4. Anon 13;18 - I commaend you on searching the scripture. I pray you keep an open mind and keep studying . one day, the Holy Spirit will convict you of the truth that tithing is NOT for Christians! Not mentioned from the beginning of the church to Revelation which was when Christianity began and was practiced (as opposed to Judaism)
Yo shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free -John 8:32
Also, you are not far from the kingdom - Mark 12:34

Tithes not mentioned in the New Testament; really?
Well Jesus actually said It should NOT BE NEGLECTED.

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, WITHOUT NEGLECTING THE FORMER.
      Matthew 23:23

  16. Any Christian who pays tithes to any Nigerian pastor is a religious mumu. No Nigerian pastor is qualified to collect tithes let alone 10%. Tithes was only meant for Levites

    1. DEUT. 14:28“At the end of every third year, bring the entire tithe of that year’s harvest and store it in the nearest town. 29Give it to the Levites, who will receive no allotment of land among you, as well as to the foreigners living among you, the orphans, and the widows in your towns, so they can eat and be satisfied. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all your work.
DEUT. 26:12 When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.
      IT WAS PRACTICED IN THE NEW TESTAMENT; THE WIDOWS RECEIVED A DAILY DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD;

Acts 6:1 But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.
1 Timothy 5:9A widow who is put on the list for support must be a woman who is at least sixty years old and was faithful to her husband.c 10She must be well respected by everyone because of the good she has done. Has she brought up her children well? Has she been kind to strangers and served other believers humbly?d Has she helped those who are in trouble? Has she always been ready to do good?
DOES YOUR PASTOR/CHURCH HAVE A LIST OF WIDOWS THAT THEY SUPPORT OR IS HE EMBEZZLING THE TITHES?
      James 1:27(NIV)
27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

  20. I don't believe it has reach to be announcing highest tither in the church. But I remember that they brought one pastor to my church that said people have to be registering the amount they pay as tithe. The church revolted ohhhhhh, when nobody pay tithe for about 2 months he went back to normal

  21. I have said it before, I will say it again. Paying tithes, ultimately is a personal decision. No Pastor whatsoever can force you to. It's between you and God. I don't understand why the drama over it
