Lucifer free this people jare!

FIFA is confused on whether the award should be based on individual glory or team glory. This year was very similar to what happened in 2013 when Ronaldo single handledly took Portugal to the World Cup by humiliating Sweden. FIFA had the voting time extended to favour Ronaldo. People wanted him to win the award because of his performance against Sweden. Now that messi was in the same position, he scored a hatrick and qualified Argentina for the World Cup against all odds he didn't win it.

Messi has got a better statistics than Christiano Ronaldo last season. He outperformed Ronaldo in every area. If the award is all about individual performance then messi should have won it.

See the puskas award too. That should have been won by Masuluke of Orlando pirates not Giroud. It isn't unusual for a striker to score that kinda of goal but it's breathtaking when a goal keeper leaves his goal post, comes upfront to contest for a corner kick and ends up scoring an over head kick, it's something you don't see all the time!

FIFA is inconsistent, corrupt and a charade.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

Pls paragon which statistics are u referring to cos your comment shows that you are clearly biased and sentimental. Which team won champions league and la liga last season? Not forgetting the Euro cup. Which Messi outperformed Ronaldo? Let me tell you the main issue here. Messi has relaxed! Getting to the top is not the problem but staying at the top is the main issue. Ronaldo works very hard to be better than he was yesterday and that is what he has going for him. He has played in 2 major leagues and countries and performed very well in both leagues. Messi has only been playing for one club and in one country. He needs to leave Barca and test another club. Remember Chevchenko (I don't know if I got the spelling right). His name was everywhere as a performer until he came to the premier league and we all know what happened. Messi needs to go back to the drawing board.

It's obvious you know nothing about football!

No need trying to enlighten you..... It's people like you who think Messi needs to play in EPL to prove himself.

Pele played for Santos and he's regarded as all time greatest. Not in Spain, England but Santos in Brazil.

Comot joor! You know nothing about football. Go comment for other posts.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

@paragon7 it's obvious u just started watching football this season. Last season Ronaldo was in form, he won practically every cup, from Euro cup to champions league to la liga etc. Messi just picked form this season again but this award was based on last seasons achievements not this season. So stop yarning opata.

Those people that voted him, you didn't know more than them. There is no sentiments here. It's pure statistics.

@ Paragon u r actually the one that knows nothing about football. Like Chidinma rightly said this award is based on last year and u r there telling us about world cup qualifier. Was it last year that Argentina qualified for world cup? Nobody is asking Messi to go EPL. Neymar moved from Barcelona to PSG and is still performing there. That is a consistent performer. U actually need to go and enlighten yourself before telling people to do same. Thank you.
