Redeemer’s University Expels Student Days Before His Convocation Over Costly Facebook Post

Redeemer’s University has expelled one of its students, Debo Adedayo Aka Mr Macaroni, days before his graduation day over a post he made on his Facebook page.

According to the university, Debo’s Facebook post was offensive and portrayed the university in bad light, an act that constitutes serious misconduct and punishable by expulsion.

The Embittered Student, Debo Adebayo took to his Instagram page to share his ordeal;

"Most of you would observe that I have been silent about Redeemer’s University lately. For those of you who know about my University life, most of you called me and sent me series of text messages 2 weeks ago asking why I didn’t go for my convocation.. this and that… as it was quite clear that I should have graduated in flying colors. Well, the management of Redeemer’s University denied me of my joy that day. I had waited so long for that day, and while waiting, I served Redeemer’s University with all my life.

First as Social Director in my 300Level and then as President of both the student association and the graduating class. I ask anyone reading this to call anyone he or she knows in Redeemer’s University including the management that dislikes me so much and ask who Debo Adedayo (Mr Macaroni) is.

If they will speak the truth with the fear of God, they will tell you that I served the University with all my life and heart. I can’t plunge into the achievements of my administration in Redeemer’s University because you will get tired. I used everything that God blessed me with to promote Redeemer’s University.

I left Redeemer’s University a debtor. All my life savings was used in paying school fees for other students and making sure students were at least comfortable in the most possible way. Please just ask around.
For me, leadership was and still is service, selflessness and sacrifice through discipline, integrity and accountability to those we as leaders claim to be of service to and by God’s grace in whose name I swear, this was what I stood for.
I wrote my final exams, defended my project and was awaiting convocation when I was summoned by the management of the University saying I posted certain things that put the University in bad light.

Excuse me?

In all my posts, I never mentioned the name of the University nor the name of any of her official. Yet on the 12th of this month, I received a letter of Expulsion for this supposed reason. I have been patient enough with the management of the University. That I wasn’t given the joy to graduate on that day I waited patiently for broke my heart. Yet, I was willing to let that go out of love for my University.

Now look what I have been greeted with. I am trying to understand the reasons behind this action by the mgt of the University. Could it be because for the first time in history, my administration refused to give the Vice-Chancellor and Director of Student affairs awards on our students appreciation day as we reached the conclusion that they didn’t deserve it?

Or could it be because my administration fought passionately for students rights; food, water, light scarcity? Could it be because I stood for the rights of students when they were falsely accused of defrauding the University….. the list is endless as I am still trying to help the University find a reason for her action.
I can go on and on, but I would simply rest my case for now as my parents have decided to take legal action against the management of the University.
I am bringing this to your attention because of the concern you have all shown and also so that everyone I have advertised Redeemer’s University to can see how exactly I am being paid back for my dedication. You haven’t heard the last of this. Thank you.

The Student went further to buttress his good studentship with photos of the Awards he received as a student of Redeemer's University.

    1. What nonsense!!! Even if he committed murder he should be awarded the degree he worked for and thereafter taken to jail! It's because his administration didn't offer the VC and Director of Student Affairs awards on their appreciation day that this is happening. Imagine! Those ignoble people just proved the students right! They are evil, vindictive, immature satanists with no conscience masquerading as Christians. I keep saying that most of Redeemed leadership are fake, evil people, I am a Redeemer by the way so I know them. Nonsense!

  3. In Nigeria fighting for the rights of others or calling the authority to attention on their bad behavior will always give you trouble.

I pray you win your legal battle against the University ☺☺☺

  6. The mumu should have at least graduated before making that 'daddy' post. Yes he has been representing the school in many places (as he claims) and to whom much is given much is expected. The same thing our celebs do. When the going is good they are happy but when they misbehave and are cautioned or 'disciplined', they form victim d'oh awon bloggers!' We all need to understand that the same hands that were used to crown; are the same hands that Will dethrone. If you have many social media followers as a result of the school, you need to be careful what you put out there cos even if it's not about the school it will be misinterpreted by some. You dont become untouchable overnight.

That said, the university should have a code of conduct for social media misbehaviour. Does it say expulsion? If not then he might have a case. They are quite unethical though. Giving him an extra semester might have been better sef.

We shall meet in court 😎

    1. The punishment was too harsh, 4 years wasted.

No one even remembered when he was so chummy with them, the poor boy spoke out through the only means he knew how?

If he had spoken out after graduation, he would have been labelled a hypocrite.

He should sue their ass out

  7. hmmmmmmm dont know what to say again.

When you are in a place, learn to behave well so that you can go out without any controversy. See the way he was expelled after many years.

Children of nowadays dont respect constituted authority.

Take heart guy. They might want to revisit your case again.

  19. All I can say is that this young man here is a brillant chap! Oh my! See how well he writes!😍

There are two sides to every story.
And I don't know what happened but judging from all he said,I go with this young man's side.

And by the way, unless he killed someone in cold blood,IMO I think expelling someone just a day before Convocation is a bit heavy. A bit Cruel.

  20. The management of the school took a very harsh decision, after all the school fees and other stuffs you just rusticate a student.

  21. This is just not fair. Someone should please fight for him

  22. OMGoodness!!!! See awards😱😱. Just being a student oo. Ha! They should have been lenient with him for his passion for service. This is way too harsh for them. I hope they have mercy and call him back

  24. For a student leader to have written d last paragraph, he sure deserve punishment, maybe not expulsion.
But wat he wrote there, can trigger rebellion, rudeness & give student effrontery to tow same way.
Also, calling elders especially ur VC such derogatory, sarcastic and insultive names doesn't show he has home training or has learnt any morals from d school.
If u r part of a sch, u must abide by d laws of d school. E.g call someone daddy, u either obey or leave the school yo d one DAT suits u.
    He was very wrong.

    1. As in! Too wrong. Nigerians once they get small recognition they begin to have unnecessary wings. This why fame isn't for everyone. He DEFINITELY deserved some kind of punishment for that kind of post. If not other students would tow that line of insulting the school authority.
With all the bullshit, I mean bullshit I went through in Unical, I still make friends with my lecturers and speak good of my faculty. Some things are better left unsaid.

Very arrogant boy, see how you are boasting, i did this, i did that, next thing you will start 'dragging' throne with God Almighty. This experience will humble you big time. This is the kind of boy that will see one of his mates that struggled academically through university doing better than him later in future and begin to complain about how he got all the awards and should be the one doing great. Ode. Life will teach you to be humble. Go and sit beside davido on the bench. More of you that will be humbled will sit on that bench. Very pompous thing.

  26. I'm sorry but that 'Daddy' post is very very very wrong. And I don't care whether it was made before or after the expulsion, there are certain things you simply do not put out there. The school did you wrong I agree but you also need wisdom! Loads of it too and discernment. Just look at that post 'ta lo ni eke daddy, ta lo ni alabosi daddy?' Seriously??? Sheesh.

  27. Some of this comments I find really baffling. Boy, sue their ass. If you don't win, you at least did not keep quiet. The Nigerian culture is one that does not encourage one to be openly expressive. You are told to hush hush, to Let God take control. For those of you saying he should have at least graduated, there's no iota of sense in that. Your typical Nigerian university does nothing, but put fear in the live of students. Why be a university that teaches students how to better themselves, but once they act on it, they are scolded? They are adults not puppets. Until we as a nation learn to start speaking out, sadly we will continue to remain this way. I can't imagine raising kids to keep quiet, to be nice, to let it go...all just so 'peace can reign'. I call BS on that. Until you start raising kids and letting them know cultural influence is not a reason to subdue them or get swayed by religious sentiments, maybe then, we can have a nation that it's people won't take rubbish from it's leaders.

    4. @ Iya, you did not have to call names. We do not have to agree, but we can be civil to disagree. Speaking of which, how has our muteness helped us a nation? We get stuck in the fear of the unknown nd remain in the status quo. Speaking up does not equal disrespect. One can be assertive and not be rude. We as a nation hide under culture and religious influences to subdue people. It is bad in itself and that is the point I was trying to make.
