Sacked Pensions Boss Maina Allegedly Spent N352m On Estacodes And Allowances

More facts have emerged on the fraudulent strategies adopted by the former chairman of the Presidential Pension Task Team (PRTT) to loot about N14 billion meant for the payment of pensions to retired police personnel across the country.

Investigation revealed that one of the modus operandi used by the former PRTT chairman to siphon the funds included the payment of collective and Duty Travel Allowances (DTA).

A document obtained at the weekend indicate that a total of N352,649,832 was spent by the former pension boss for the payment of estacodes to several top government officials within the period of 2008 to 2013.

Prominent among government officials who allegedly benefited from the receipt of estacodes during the period are a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF), a former Permanent Secretary in the State House, Abuja, officials of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and EFCC personnel.

Following the revelation of the involvement of this category of government officials, a senior presidential aide, who pleaded anonymity, has confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari has already ordered full investigation of all persons who collected monies through any means.

“Those whose names have been identified as benefiting from allowances will have to justify the reasons for having been paid estacode by the pension taskforce team or they will have to make refund,” he said
