UNILAG Student Who Twerked On Former VC’s Statue, Reportedly Suspended For 4 Semesters

For twerking on the statue of former University of Lagos’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Tunde Sofoluwe and sharing the video on social media, a UNILAG student has reportedly been suspended for 4 semesters.

LOL...Na wah..This is one the dangers of bringing things to the social media.
What is your take on her being suspended for four semesters.?

    1. Stella, any random twitter handle could just have come out to say this but where are the facts to authenticate what he said? What's the girls name? What's her department? If the twitter handle that has come out to break this info can't have little information as that how then should I believe this?

    2. 4 semesters is too small. Expulsion would have serve her better. Its disrespectful of her, thats not Quilox or DNA. Misplaced priority, Social media slay queen.

      Delete
  2. Why would she go twerk there? Does the statue looks like quilox gate? Suspending her was too harsh though but that was stupid of her.

  4. What nonsense. So catching fun with a dead man statue is an offence now?

    1. Really?
Will you be saying this if this dead man was related to you?

    2. First time im disagreeing with you. She deserve the suspension. What a gross lack of respect for elders. Lol. If the man is dead nko? So what if it's a statue? Sometimes we need to draw a line. But 4 semesters is too much na.

    3. If the dead man was related to me? Dumb question. Was she destroying the statue or what?
This is nothing but a statue, what respect are you talking about anonymous? Are you saying she should knee down in front of it for a picture?

    4. Don all the stupid girl needed/needs was/is a pole so buy her some poles for her budding profession if you don't mind.
Mumu girl wants to trend online but she got stung instead.
      I can't pity the mumu
Next time she should look for an 'appropriate' venue for her shameless display

    5. Perhaps you would be happy if a lady did that to your father’s statue. That would be a good way of paying your father respect: twerking on his statue. Take your head out of your butt and reflect deeply on the implications of what she did. The statue is not just there as a statue but a way of showing a person honour and respect. Twerking isn’t at all. I pray someone did that to your father’s memory so that you too can enjoy the sight of it, as well as the honour and respect.

    6. No Don, don't say so.
Her act is disrespectful and grossly irresponsible.

She insulted what the statue stands for, the institution and the educational system in general.

      She deserves the suspension.
There is a consequence for every act of stupidity.

  6. Very good judgement....infact I think she got off lightly....she should have been expelled. How dare she do that and even have the audacity to post it on social media. The rate of moral decadence in our youths is frightening.....

  7. Extreme. While the situation calls for some discipline a four semester suspension is overkill. A better punishment would be putting her to clean up around campus for six-eight weeks of manual labour between classes and on weekends. Why interrupt her studies?

    2. True. She made herself a target for some frustrated lecturers. This is just a crafty way of telling her to get a JAMB form. I pity her future in that school if she decides to return.

    3. Thanks, why suspension when she can be sent out to do a community service or something.

    4. Thank you. Thank you very much
Suspension for 4 semesters is an overkill.

  8. Four semesters is like 2 years. That is abit harsh.
Thou I don't blame them for taking disciplinary actions. But suspending her for 2 semesters would have been okay. So she misses just one year of school.
I don't know their code of ethics in unilag anyway. Probably they disciplining for public nuisance or disturbing the peace. Wetin I know sef.
If I were this girl I will just transfer to private university instead of sitting home for 2yrs. Good luck to her.

    Foolishness.
The insatiable urge in some to be the latest Internet "craze"
    Sheer stupidity.

    All of the above.

I wonder what she wil tell her parents when she gets home.

This reminded me of something way back when I was in t Convent. Reverend Sisters dealt with me. With us. I am yet to see the kind of discipline i encountered in my Juniorate anywhere else. So we were forbidden to pluck fruits. It doesn't matter if the fruits were ripe and getting rotten on the trees. It doesn't matter at all. You just leave the fruits and be on ur way. Don't even do like you saw them. And we had an orchard! The grounds were massive and there were fruits virtually everywhere. Mangoes and cashews especially. And we were expected not to stare let alone pluck.

Then one day yours truly was on her own. Jejely on her way to class abi chapel. Can't remember which one now. Abi choir practise. I was sha on my way going where I was going peacefully till I encountered some students staring at some trees....

I was still on my way when they called me and when I waved, they told me I should help them check which of the trees had more ripe fruits. That's all I intended to do...
I wasn't about to pluck fruits off a tree! It was a cardinal sin in my school and the punishment was suspension. Unless if u got lucky.....
So I just waved them off and told them I didn't look like Eve in the Bible....

I should have just continued on my way. I actually did till someone said "But the fruits are ripe. If we don't eat them, birds will. And that's a waste and God doesn't like waste and besides the Sisters are taking their siesta...

What followed next thought me a very big lesson. And the ensuing Drama ensured that till date I don't go against rules or Authority...

The Reverend sisters weren't sleeping like we thought ...
They were wide awake like Night Owls🤣🤣🤣

    2. You just reminded me of the day an orchard owner chased us with a double barrel from his farm. That experience made me never to pluck anything from any tree till today. I will be walking down my street and see very ripe plum or cherry, I will just pass by even though there is no threat from anywhere. I just can get over dt local double barrels.

Anon, that experience changed my life. Till date,I don't eat cashew. It can be in the house,in my face all day long and "all night day" and I won't be moved to touch it. I don't even notice it anymore🤣🤣🤣

Like I just moved on from cashew after that fateful day🤣🤣🤣🤣

It was Assembly the next morning and the Sister Principal, hands behind her and with those her very scary spectacles mounted the podium and cleared her throat....

She had a piece of paper in her hands.
And when she clears her thrust. Esp if she clears it for long, then there is trouble in the land....

And the she smiled(dunno how they perfect that their "wicked smile" Like u know y want to ouxnish someone and then u stil go ahead and smile. Then she goes,so some students were caught breaking the school rules and regulations. Na so me and my fellow culprit/friends looked at one another. Is it us????

So some students think they are smart...
But they don't know we are super-smart....
We exchanged looks again and I was thinking nah! Can't be us! There were sleeping nau....

And she continues...but we are smarter than they are. And because we have eyes in the back of our heads, nothing escapes us....
      Ha!😳😳😳
They have eyes in the back of their heads??😳😳

And so the following students,Pls if you hear your name, come out.....

By then my heart was pounding and I couldn't think straight anymore....

      😂😂😂😂😂😂

  13. That serves her right. How can she twerk in front of sofoluwe's statue when she knows how much the school adores it and to think the location of the statue is not far from the senate building where she can easily be seen. She now foolishly uploaded the video again. This is one of the girls giving the school a bad name. There are some things you avoid when you are in a formal setting. Even though the punishment was not lenient with her, it'll teach others like her a lesson.I dn't know but that was a stupid thing to do.

  16. If only she hadn't shared the video.

If I shared videos of all the things I get up to,I'd probably be living in a straitjacket.
    Lmao!

I feel sorry for her.She was just having a bit of fun but being an adult means you are responsible for your actions and you bear whatever consequences may arise from decisions you take.

A few minutes madness has led to this.
Well, she has ample time to brood over it.

  26. This is similar to using a hammer to kill a cockroach. Overkill...
There are other ways of punishing her to ensure she and other students learn their lesson.
