This is really annoying!!!!

People are Hungry and without Jobs and now one cannot leave Lekki if you cannot afford to pay more for toll fees!!!......Nigeria is dead...Goodbye Felicia!

They can as well make a good baricade on the third mainland Bridge to avoid more deaths since they want to frustrate the already frustrated....How much do some people earn in a month..

Governor Ambode shame on you!

  1. Why are they increasing the toll, for maintenance or what? Before uyou iu know it commercial bus drivers and cabs would increase their fare too and the poor man continues to suffer. I am sick and fed up of this country.

  2. When I heard about it this morning, was extremely pissed also. I hardly pass the toll gate anyway except there is traffic on alternative route.
But the problem now is the alternative route will now be congested with traffic and no one will want to pay N200. Even if you can afford it, it is completely ridiculous. To go and come will be N400/N500 and some ppl that pick kids from school use it more.
I envisage a lot of traffic when this shit takes effect.
Let Tinubu keep chopping toll money. God will always fight for his ppl. As they alleged he is the one behind it, a percentage goes to him; as the creator and owner of Lagos State. Mschewwww

  5. Its a pity that when government is supposed to make life ease for People the are making it more difficult. On what basis are they increasing the fare. When the built these toll gates we understood from what they said that the fare will reduce over time. So why the Increase? I guess People get what the asked for. Please God come to the Aid of All, who did not wish this Hell of APC Government and let those that brought it on us burn in more anguish.

There is an alternative route if you don't want to pay toll. I am sure some people will stage protests.

  9. Whoever is behind this is heartless!!! It will never be well with them. So with all the suffering and hunger people are going through, they want to just finish people off? May the brains behind it reap all the hardship they want to impose on the masses.

  11. na now i know say some people can type and write English, but they are freaking ignorant! LCC is not controlled by the Govt. It is a private company! The roads are been maintained by them(it cost money) they have staffs( they pay salaries) they have operational expenses( it cost money). This is not a Lagos state govt doing, it is only logical that prices of maintenance will shoot up given the rates at which things are going up. Pls let us be enlightened.

    1. You are the daft one. LCC is in a private public partnership with the government. They do not operate independently. The contract is not supposed to be forever too. There is no justification for this increase. This will just create an artificial inflation. Fares will increase too. The poor will suffer more.

  12. So, I heard that Lekki - Epe toll gate grosses N15,000,000 per day. Unconfirmed though but if you run a rough calculation, you'd find the figure isn't far-fetched. Now with this increase, owners of that toll want to build the world tallest building in air, suspended.

Understandably, the toll is a BOT contract but even at present rate, a CRAZY margin is made way long before the transfer year.

    God de.

  14. This government is bold oh, on the middle of all of this, they have the nerve to increase the toll?!! It's almost like its a deliberate attempt to push the polity over. An average person, that lives on that axis spend N180k a year on toll, isn't that ridiculous enough. How long is this zombie silence going to continue, cuz it seems they are getting bolder by the second.

  15. she should leave lagos and go back to Biafra if she can afford the toll . its simple.

  22. To Annon 12:54,....am very sure u a Mongolian Idiot, if u so enlightened, u must have come across what they call B.O.T(build operate and transfer) read about it. LCC is a company that is out there to make money...if their operational expenses and maintenance expenses is high, i wonder where they will make up the difference! To Stella, you are judgemental, i dont work with LCC,i run my own business and i understand what this increment is all about. Pls let us stop blaming govt for everything, it is not by force to pass the bridge, alternative routes are avialiable. How much is the increment sef? 50 naira and 80 naira! Pls let us all be enlightened.

Where do you live Stan? You don't see the hundreds of potholes and bad spots all along the highway from Abraham Adesanya roundabout to lekki tollgate? Abi the ones that appear & disappear all along Ozumba?

  24. @Stan.....I understand and agree with you, but your point is not complete. The buck still stops at the govts table. Roads are public amenities and govt has the final say in regulating charges for the greater good.

    ReplyDelete
  25. LASG revoked those contracts long ago. Both toll gates are now fully under the control of LASG and the Ministry of Transportation. So this increment is Lagos State.

  26. Lagos State Government in a press release signed by Steve Ayorinde, the Commissioner for Information & Strategy  last night instructed the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) to suspend any form of tariff hike on the Lekki-Epe Expressway and Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge by the Lekki Concession Company (LCC).

On Friday, Lekki Concession Company (LCC) , which is in charge of the Lekki toll plaza and the Lekki- Ikoyi Link Bridge toll plaza notified users of an increase in toll charges for both plazas which would have taken effect from Wednesday November 8 2017.

Here’s a copy of the release:

“The attention of Lagos State Government has been drawn to the announcement of a proposed tariff hike on Lekki-Epe Expressway and Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge by the Lekki Concession Company (LCC).
The Lagos State Government hereby informs the general public that the said tariff hike has now been put on hold as the necessary consultations with stakeholders are yet to be concluded.
While government recognises the need for periodic review of tariffs and any other levies appertaining to road infrastructure maintenance in the state, the public and critical stakeholders as the ultimate beneficiaries of such facilities must always be carried along at all times.
Therefore, the proposed tarrif hike cannot be effected at this period in the interest of the public, while further consultations continue”.
