The website ranked Lagos Airport the fifth worst airport in the world while Port Harcourt airport was ranked the third worst airport globally.
Reacting to the latest ranking by the website, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), operator of the airports, promised to improve standards to meet the identified criteria specified by the site and air travellers. Director of Consumer Protection of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Adamu Abdullahi, also said the Port Harcourt airport had at least improved by two steps as it was rated the worst airport in the world last year.
Owing to the paucity of funds, the federal government is currently considering concessioning most of the country’s major airports to private sector operators to upgrade and operate.
