Former Boxing Great Mike Tyson BARRED From Entering Chile Because of His Criminal Record

Former boxing great Mike Tyson was barred from entering Chile on Thursday because of his criminal record, airport police said. The American boxer had travelled to Chile to take part in an awards ceremony for action films taking place in Santiago, the country's capital.

Immigration police at Santiago international airport tweeted a photo of the 51-year-old former heavyweight champion being escorted by officers 're-embarking' him.

It said he was being deported for 'not complying with immigration law.' The police force explained it had the power to 'prohibit the entry into the country of any foreigner who has negative records and/or convictions in their country of origin.' His criminal record also includes convictions for assault and cocaine possession.

1978: Twelve-year-old Tyson is arrested for stealing a purse in Brooklyn and is sent to Tryon School for Boys

June 21, 1987: Tyson is charged with misdemeanor assault and battery and assault with a deadly weapon for striking a male parking lot attendant, after he attempted to kiss a female employee. He settled out of court for $105,000

October 2, 1988: Police are called to Tyson's Bernardsville, New Jersey home where they witness him hurling furniture out of the window. His wife Robin Givens leaves the home and files for divorce five days later.

December 12, 1988: Tyson is found guilty of battery and fined $100 for grabbing, propositioning and insulting a woman at a New York night club.

March 1992: Tyson is sentenced to six years in prison for raping Miss Black America contestant Desiree Washington on July 18, 1991. He only ends up serving three years.

May 8, 1992: 15 days are added to Tyson's sentence after he is found guilty of disorderly conduct for threatening a prison guard.

December 1, 1988: Tyson pleads no contest to misdemeanor assault for kicking one man and punching another following a August car accident in Maryland. He is sentenced to two, two-year sentences, with one year suspended, and fined $5,000.

March 5, 1999: Tyson gets 60 days in jail for violating the terms of his parole for his 1992 rape conviction

February 27, 2004: Tyson takes a plea deal in a case involving a 2003 fight with autograph seekers in a hotel lobby. He agrees to go to counselling and perform community service.

August 2007: Tyson pleads guilty to drug possession and driving under the influence in Arizona.

This isn't the first time he has been barred from a country for his lengthy rap sheet.

Sadly people here have no idea of who Tyson is. Especially now that he has become a more celebrated person. I’m very sure many are far worse than him here. The charges against him posted above are what many celebrities have against them but were not charged because of cutting corners. How many times were people like Bieber charged for attacking people who needed autograph or attack paparazzi? They include his grief against prison warded as if it was a big crime that he committed. Why was he given a big hosting in Germany some years ago where he spoke about his life and book? You guys should watch it on YouTube instead of ranting here.
