Lagos Policeman Allegedly Steals,Stabs And Forgets ID Card At Crime Scene...

Highway robberies may have taken a turn for the worse after a police sergeant, Williams Godwin, was allegedly involved in the robbery of a commuter identified only as Henry.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the 41-year-old victim was on his way to work when he joined a cab along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway en route to Lagos Island.

He was said to have been attacked at gunpoint, as the assailants, which included Godwin, allegedly dispossessed him of his ATM card and N4,000.

However, during the incident, the policeman’s ID card allegedly fell into the luggage of the victim, who was rushed to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre at Toll gate, Ojota, where he was admitted and treated.

One of those who rescued Henry revealed that he was stabbed with a sharp object in the back.

  8. Stella, lost of these police men are armed robbers. On a trip back to the country few years ago, landed in Lagos. Flight was delayed and luggage took some time to come out. Ended up leaving the airport quite late at approximately 11pm. Luckily, I wasn't going very far. Just around Magodo. My brother who picked me up and I were stopped at Allen. The policemen there held us for lack of fire extinguisher and made us go to the station in Alausa. On getting there, we were searched as "suspected hoodlums" driving and putting lives at "risk". Lol. To cut the long story short, we ended up settling them N2,500. By the time we left the station, it was long past midnight. Just under the bridge, where a police car was parked, someone who I'm certain was a police stopped us. He had a jumper on but I'm not sure if he had his name tag as it was very dark. Without asking for any car papers, he just asked for my laptop bag. And he was armed. I asked what for. He said "oga no make me fire cos I go do am and nothing go happen". Reluctantly I had to give him. I tried to open it to remove my passport and small change in there but he refused saying hand everything over. He took out just my passport and other papers and gave to me. And told us to drive off immediately. We got home and on returning to that same spot a few minutes later cos we were going back to the station to report, the patrol car had moved. Went to the station and made a complaint. They said they didn't have any patrol car there at all. Then made us write statements and had the nerve to even ask for money for paper and stamp. Imagine!!!!! They wanted us to leave the station that night again but we refused this time. That we will wait in the premises till morning so we aren't robbed again.

  11. Most of these men are not genuine policemen. Before when you see a policeman sitting in front of a bus, you feel safe entering that bus, but these days just avoid it cos most of them are thieves. Especially all those from Berger heading to Oshodi. I dont know if that Oshodi area is cursed with hooligans.

  12. There is more to this... I perceive a strong setup. Police commission should investigate thouroghly.
