    1. Wish Nigeria Govt can do same by recognizing her talents and legends. Is a shame that we have a govt that doesn't encourage people with talents by recognizing their works but do recognize rich people in the society. People like Wole Soyinka, Dora Akinyuli and many of them that I cannot remember their names should be immortalizes. Unfortunately it seems being rich is the ultimate in Nigeria irrespective of how you makes the money, the society will honor you. Reason why people are going to any length to get rich which is a shame in a country that is blessed with honey and milk like Nigeria

    1. At Kele. Everything in life is not about benefit or money as you can't eat money. Being recognized by Google is of greater honor as it is being seen all over the world by Billions of people and with no pun intended, to me being recognize by Google as an Icon is more than being given an Oil block by Nigeria govt. Honor can give you money and respect but you might not be able to buy Honor and respect with money

  9. I think it's just for today to celebrate his posthumous birthday. Very brilliant move too, he is one of the faces of literature in Africa. A great man indeed.
The mask in place of 'O' stands for 'Things for apart'
The Arrow in place of 'L' -Arrow of God
Continue to rest in Peace sir.

  10. The great Legend.... To me You are one the greatest writer. The way you paint words, and make your reader eat, see and smell what you are talking about is magnificent. Rest in peace my True Nobel Laureate(Although you never won that price).

  11. Its a google doodle and it is used to commemorate events/birthday anniversaries etc. Today would have been his 87th birthday. Just like yesterday,I remember the day he died, I felt like a part of my childhood was gone forever.

  13. The Arrow of God shall strike, they shall be No Longer At Ease, and Things will Fall Apart.
I remember that quote and reading the trilogy as well. Another book I loved was Burning Grass by Cyprian Ekwensi. Woke Soyinka's Aké is another beautiful read. Grew up and explored the world of Buchi Emecheta.. Second Class Citizen, In the Ditch, etc. Oh and there was Mariama Ba's So Long A Letter.. 💜

Buchi Emecheta's The Joy's of Motherhood remains my best work of hers ever. And I will not forget Zulu Sofola's The Wizard of Law... That book motivated me to love writing comedy. You should read that one if you can.

    2. Funny enough, I haven't read Joys of Motherhood. Will go hunting for it. She passed on early this year though, one of the absolute best. Thank you for the recommendations, I'd look for both books asap!
