Street sweepers engaged by the Edo State Waste Management Board, under a public-private partnership arrangement, have staged another protest over the non-payment of their outstanding salaries.
Spokesperson of the sweepers, Jerry Aigbe, who spoke with journalists, appealed to the state government to pay them their eight months salary. On November 3, 2017, we protested against the non-payment of our salary to the state government and they promised us that within a week they will pay us. Since then, we have been going to government house and waiting for the money.
Also speaking, Helen Jamiu and Christian Okhoroye, said government was not paying them the correct monthly salary, pointing out that in the employment letters they were offered N25,000 monthly but instead they were being paid N7,500 monthly.
The State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, who received the protesters on behalf of Governor Godwin Obaseki, had assured them that all issues leading to the delay in the payment of their salaries were currently being resolved.

Someone will sit on air conditioned office and received millions of money for it while those who works under the sun receive peanut and the peanuts are not paid on time.

Meanwhile the governor was forming 'good man' to the Libya returnees but oweing salaries to workers for that long. Irony of life! It is well with Edo state.
ReplyDeleteBut why do they find joy in owing workers salary. This is not right, ay all. I want to believe the state government have paid them but the company thwy contracted the job to is the one that messed up.
