Pope Francis Wants To Change Words To The Lord's Prayer

Pope Francis has said he wants to change the interpretation of 'Our Father', the best known prayer in Christianity.

The Pontiff said the Roman Catholic Church should adopt a better translation of the phrase 'lead us not into temptation' in the Italian version of the Lord's Prayer.

He said the current phrasing, which is the same in English and many other languages, suggests that it is God who has a choice to lead us into temptation or not.

'That is not a good translation, because it speaks of a God who induces temptation',' the pope said in a television interview on Wednesday night.

Francis said the Catholic Church in France had opted for a different phrasing, which worked around this particular issue.

The French translation uses the phrase 'do not let us fall into temptation' as an alternative, which, the Pope said, implies that the fault would be human.
He indicated that it or something similar should be applied worldwide.
The prayer is part of Christian liturgical culture and memorised from childhood by hundreds of millions of people within all branches of the religion - both Catholic and Protestant.

It is a translation from the Latin vulgate, which was translated from ancient Greek, which was in turn translated from Aramaic, the language spoken by Jesus.
Liturgical translations are usually done by local Churches in coordination with the Vatican.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Roman Catholic Church
Our Father who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
Protestants also add the following conclusion:
For thine is the kingdom
And the power
And the glory
Forever

    2. The original language used to say the "Lord's prayer was Aramaic, then translated to Greek then to English. There could possibly have been mistake along or error in translation.
I'm a Catholic and whatever the pontiff says, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and I look at logically, I believe, some I just have to believe even if I don't understand.

Tomorrow another pastor will come up with his own opinion about some verses in the Holy Bible, I swear the endtime is nearer than we imagine.

  10. Yeah, he can change it. If he succeeded, he joined king Henry the 8th as one of the person that modified 'The Lord's prayer in the 15th century.

  12. Pope leave God's words alone. The Lords prayer was heavenly inspiration. Go and talk to your priests to leave formication, evil vices. That should be your concern and how your people should make heaven.

That is every Christian priority. The last days things are happening

  14. I don't understand, someone was telling me about this yesterday but I was to engrossed to give it a thought. This is what i thinks, Trials and temptations are sure things as a Christian, and should be expected its a test of our faith, but why we are asking God in our prayers not to give us those tests, we also ask for him to please show us a way out (deliver us from all evil) we should further read 1 Corinthian 10:13.
Even Christ was tempted. I don't think there is anything to be modified in that prayer, but he is the Pope

  15. @Abamade exactly cos God allowed the devil put job through temption just to see if he will deny him. God does allow temptations come to us but not ones which we can never overcome.
